Hardware

Post by Dosjax » Thu Aug 04, 2022 10:56 am

Hi all,
I'm wanting to get a pc for the sole use of installing condor soaring. However I don't understand the specification side of things and whether or not the pc I am looking at will be able to run it or not so I'm hoping someone in the know can assist. Spec is as follows:
Intel i5 4590 CPU
SanDisk 120 SSD drive
Western digital blue 7200 rpm 1tb hard drive
MSI H81M-P33 motherboard
Gigabyte 750ti 2gb graphics card
16gb ddr3 1600 MHz ram (2x 8gb)
Corsair 430M 430 watt bronze certified power supply
Running Windows 10
Many thanks in advance for anyone that can help with this.
Jamie

The CPU, memory and HDs are adequate (you will have to store the large landscapes on the HDD, but Condor will fit on the SSD)
The video card (assuming it is a GeForce GTX 750 Ti) has a score of 3915, which almost "very good" by Condor criteria: https://www.condorsoaring.com/system-requirements/
However, you might need to reduce some graphical settings to achieve more that 30 FPS on large landscapes (or those with many 3D objects)
I don't think VR is possible.

Hi, and thank you for your feedback. It sounds as if it's borderline and certainly could hinder any future upgrades such as vr.

Out of interest do you use vr and if so which ones as it seems a minefield out there?

Many thanks

Any Oculus headset will work pretty much plug and play.

Other headsets require some workarounds as Condor at the moment only supports the Oculus API. No announcement has been made yet about if and when native support for other headsets will be added There are several guides on the forum how to set up other headsets.

The oculus quest seems to be a good allrounder and not too expensive.

That's great to know thank you, I was thinking of getting the hotas thrust master with pedals, I assume these work together with the occulus or do I need another solution?

Many thanks
