Glitching movement at airfield only

Post by DAVIDR » Sat Feb 19, 2022 5:22 pm

Hello
I'm a newbie at this. Just downloaded UKWest 2.

All working well except for one thing: Flight movement is very jagged and slow to react to stick controls but it only seems to be at the airfield (ie on approach). This could be just the fact that I am low on approach to the airfield and the screen is filled with texture. I have tried lowering the terrain mesh quality and the object level of detail to normal. Not alot of change but I think it had some impact. Graphics card is a NVIDIA GeForce GT710.
Just using Condor to help train for the real thing which will start as soon as this weather allows.

Note when flying Slovenia its all fine.

Thanks for any suggestions/help.

6266 is correct.

When all of the UK sceneries were combined Andy put in a lot of work to optimise the airports. If you download the one large UK scenery you should not see the low FPS at airfields that you are currently seeing.

According to Passmark benchmark the GT710 gets a score of 638. The System requirements, in the Support menu on condorsoaring.com, says:
"A dedicated graphics card with 1 GB memory. The graphics card should have benchmark (www.videocardbenchmark.net) result of 1000 minimum, 4000 is very good and 8000 perfect.
(Integrated graphics cards and cards with benchmark result below 1000 are usable, but with severely reduced graphics settings)".

You might try decreasing your graphics settings and see if that helps. Alternately, something like a refurbished GTX 750 Ti gets 3922 on the benchmark, and I see examples on ebay.ca from UK for 45 UK Pounds ( https://www.ebay.ca/itm/144415701161?ha ... Sw8OBiC8At ), and this particular one runs off the PCIe slot power only.

Cheers

Probably a graphic card built in 1990's.

Agreed a better GPU would massively help but there were airfields in the West UK scenery that would slow my PC down to very low FPS, pre optimisation in the full UK scenery. Something to do with the about of objects, I.e. instead of the fence around the airfield being one object each part of the fence was an object.

Ideal solution is buy more GPU power and upgrade the landscape to the full UK one. Difficult to do the former if the OP has a laptop.

Yes agree with you all.
I will upgrade the graphics card and also download the full UK Landscape.
Just had a lovely fly to Davidstow and back.

Thanks for your help. :D

Glad you liked your flight to Davidstow and return.

When making a scenery I must find a balance between some realism at airfields i.e. some objects and the effect on the FPS rate.

Some sceneries include all the airfield ojects combined into a single file which does help the FPS.

I admit I am a bit lazy when making airfield objects which results in many objects. But there a lot in the UK.

Fortunately any FPS drop only occurs near the airfield and not when in transit.

As suggested a improved graphics card will help your experience. :D
