Hi,
I flew a 2.5 hour task with the JS3, during which the vario wasn’t TE compensated. Every time I pulled up: positive values. Every time I dived down it showed heavy sink ( minus 6/7), which was not related to air movement. Basically, what you would expect in old school uncompensated gliders, not in a JS3. Anyway, as you would expect, it made thermal selection quite difficult and frustrating.
After finishing the task, I landed and restarted, after that, the problem was gone/reset.
I made a video of it, not sure how to post here.
Vario not compensated (JS3)
Re: Vario not compensated (JS3)
Upload the video to YouTube or a cloud an share the link in the forum.
I suspect the problem in the JS3-15.gau file.
This is the file where the panel configuration is saved.
For the vario there is a property which enables or disnables TE compensation:
example from Blanik (uncompensated!):
[Vario]
FileName=Vario.c3d
PosX=2.19100093841553
PosY=0.089000016450882
PosZ=-0.226999923586845
Scale=1.01999986171722
a=0.347669
MaxValue=5
YAxisRotation=-0.0399999991059303
TECompensated=0
the JS3 file has to be the following:
[Vario]
FileName=Vario.c3d
PosX=1.28500068187714
PosY=0.106000036001205
PosZ=-0.113000057637691
Scale=0.700000286102295
a=0.4747
MaxValue=5
YAxisRotation=3.50177287167242E-9
No property relating compensation means automatically compensated.
Additionally you can add:
TECompensated=1

Re: Vario not compensated (JS3)
Thanks for your reply.
I have checked the file, and everything seems to be the way you described. The weird thing is, after restarting (without exiting the flight), the problem was solved.
A friend of mine (X37) was so kind the upload the video for me (even edited it with comfy music )
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1hBV5tGPmnk
First part of the video shows the vario being affected. In case you are wondering if I am flying through lift/sink while filming it, it was like this every time I pulled up.
The second part of the video is from the same flight, but after "restart". Here the problem is gone again.
