I just purchased a certificate to sign the executables (to avoid the "author unknown" message).
I am able to sign the executable files and the certificate is visible in the file properties, but as those files have been produced locally, it doesn't change anything when running them on my PC.
If you have five minutes and you have a version of Windows that protests when you run an unsigned executable, I would appreciate it if you could do a little test :
- download the archive : hhttps://drive.google.com/file/d/1jsF9uejhKfHmvGvIoSWoiZW6ni_P8lC4/view?usp=sharing
- run the two executables (which don't do much, you shouldn't see anything except "Hello world" in the console window).
In principle, tst_signed.exe should run without Windows finding it suspicious, contrary to tst_unsigned.exe
Many thanks in advance !

Re: Help needed
I'm interested in the Windows SmartScreen filter response, not the anti-virus software on which the signing has no influence
@6266 : I guess your anti-virus is a bit sensitive as no other AV reported anything.
To be more precise, the certificate I used actually doesn't prevent the Windows SmartScreen filter response.
Please could you check is there is a difference in the message content between the signed and unsigned executable
This is the French version but I guess the layout is the same in all languages
