Strange thermal behavior

Post by ahorcajo » Fri Jun 05, 2020 1:21 am

Hello folks, new to this forum. I have just purchased Condor 2 and I have noticed very erratic thermal behavior like the glider jumps to +5m/s and skips immediately to sink -4 within a second. This happens in cycle on and off and it looks like a software bug. I am a real world glider pilot and I am pretty sure this is not correct. Has this issue been encountered before by anyone? Any fixes? Thank you,

Kind regards, Antonio

Intel I7 4790K @ 4GHz, 16GB RAM, NVIDIA GTX 1060 3GB

Hi there

Can't say I've heard about such a bug before

Try it with thermal helpers on. (H key)
settings on moderate or strong and wide, no wind, flatlands
So you can check if your up and down feeling matches what you see.

It does take a while to "feel" a thermal when you're missing a lot of bodily informations

From what you describe, I'd say you're not centered and going in and out of the therm.

If you feel like you really have a problem, maybe post a vid

See you in flight

A bit of a late reply, and not sure if this topic as been picked up somewhere else.

I just wanted to say that I have had this bug as well. I had a flight with 4R and DHR, and we all had the same experience. It was a very strong thermal, and suddenly it started glitching, the vario went from +6 m/s to negative values, and then back to positive. It kept going like this, so we left the thermal. It wasn’t a gradual transition as in turbulence, it just switched forward and backwards.

I think something went wrong there, but it was a very rare occasion and I haven’t seen it before. We continued the (loooong) flight, and didn’t come across it again in other thermals. 4R and DHR confirmed they have seen it once before this flight.

Flight plan and flight track have been saved.

Probably the same issue reported in this thread:

Yeah, that seems to be the same problem. Thanks for the link.
