Tow plane crash

Post by sadatoni » Sat Jun 16, 2018 8:20 pm

In today's (16 June 2018) TchinTchin race, at least 3 times the tow plane, while towing, flew right into the side of a mountain. Very odd.

The towplane behavier is generally lousy. Flying in lee, Crashing in mountains. Flying in the end of the scenery etc.
Time to make the towplane controllable.

Hello

I have the same problem. I tried to fly a task loaded on Condor-club on the West Balkans landscape and all times I tried my tow plane disappeared in the landscape (and I crashed on it...)
After a lot of tries the tow plane circuit changed and avoid the mountain...

Is there a way to obtain a change in the tow circuit else that trying and trying ?

Best regards

Hello

This reply does not help me at all.
I am trying to fly a task design by someone else and I dont want to change it .
Some people have posted results showing a correct towing.
So without changing the task, the task is possible.
So what changes the tow plane circuit (is it random or always the same but depending on the weight of the glider etc)

Towplane logic:

Straight ahead until 100 meter AGL, if there is terrain in the way before 100 meters it will fly trough. After that shortest route to the start waypoint. It tries to avoid terrain, but if there is no turn possible that will clear terrain it will go through. Once it reaches the start waypoint it will try to fly to the nearest thermal.
