Patch 2.02 yawstring

Post by wickid » Tue Apr 03, 2018 6:02 pm

I noticed that in Patch 2.02 the yawstring is also removed when using ctrl-F1. Is there a way to get it back. I use Condor 2 in a simulator cockpit and it would be nice to have the yawstring on screen.

Is this different to 2.0.1?

Yes, when removing the cockpit in V2.01 with ctrl-F1, the yawstring remains on screen

Here is a picture from in the sim with the cockpit removed from screen. This is in version 2.01. The yawstring is still displayed. I have V2.02 installed on my laptop now. I tried it before installing on the sim and I noticed that the new yawstring (which is really nice btw :D ) disappears.

Removing yawstring with alt+F1 is a request by real instructors, using Condor for landing training. They've noticed that their pupils where using it as a landmark leading them to a false landing slope in real.

I never had problems with my students. I think especially for circuit training a yawstring is important. All low level curves need to be coordinated. Anyway, it would be nice to at least have the option for a yawstring on screen without the cockpit.

Sorry? And what they use to teach coordinated turns, specially on landing pattern? Can't understand it... :?

Well, you have the ball (slip indicator). None of our club's gliders has a yawstring and we all learned how to turn :-) It isnt even mentioned in our basic training methodology at all.

All turns should be coordinated. Especially in the landing pattern because a spin at low level is not recoverable.

We use a yawstring because you can look outside all the time. We don't have turn and slip in our planes.

I think the majority of us, who fly or flew in RL, had to follow the yawstring on our students life. Anyway, the option to have it or no, would be ideal.
