Microsoft Force Feedback 2

Post by scottrev » Thu Mar 09, 2023 3:18 am

Okay, I read posts that using Microsoft Force Feedback joysticks was great. I ordered one and it just arrived.

I have to say it is the best. Is regular flying is it light and not pushing back against every move I make on the stick. I cannot wait to test it in a stall or eminent stall and when at high speed.

I would highly recommend it to anyone flying in condor.

Hello Friends
I had a problem with the trimmer while using this joystick.
When set to minus 100, the stick moves forward as it should. But the glider at the same time balances at an indicated speed of about 100 km / h. That is, the maximum value of the trimmer corresponds to a shift of only approximately 25-30%.
In this position, for acceleration over 100 km / h, you need to move the stick forward, overcoming the resistance of the feed back.
This is extremely uncomfortable and does not correspond to the behavior of the trimmer of a real glider.

I'll ask, is this my problem or all owners of Microsoft Force Feedback?

This effect is on all gliders. There are very small differences. But it's not normal.
with any CoG
"Stick trim where available" is disabled. Tried switching back and forth

I don't know how it's possible, but it seems that your joystick is decalibrated.
Press Windows Key + R, type joy.cpl and press enter.
Select the FFB2 on the list > Properties > Settings tab > Calibrate...

I certainly did it.
Therefore, I ask the owners of MFF2 on the forum. Have they experienced something like this? Perhaps this is a general one problem fo MFF or Condor.

Hello
I use a MSFFB 2 for some month now and am very satisfied of it. No problem with the trim. I use for it a level of a logitech quadrant. (The 2 others are for throttle (not used even for my EB29...but it is there) and the flaps).
When I push the trim forward the glider dives and arrives near VNE.
The only problem I can mention about FFB2 is that sometimes the force does not start when starting the flight. So stop the flight, unplug and replug the stick and refly. And generally that works.
Best regards

I have been using a MSSWFFB2 for years with the trimer attached to the joystick throttle and I never experienced such a problem
Has your joystick always behaved as you described or did it work properly for some time ?

This happens from time to time (when the glider is static on the ground, there should be no force feedback)
Instead of exiting the flight and unplugging/plugging the joystick, try to ALT-TAB away from Condor and back. If in free flight you may want to use autopilot. If it happens during tow, and you are quick enough, you may forget about autopilot

I consider that my FFB2 works properly.
I know that the stick has no force feed back on the ground.
After that, it happens that the force does not start with the flight. Alt tab is not easy (I am in VR ) and when this happens , Condor works correctly except the feed back force. So I restart and it works and once started there is no pb during the flight. For me it is a minor default...

In the rare cases when I lose the force feedback, I just hit twice the Windows key, and it comes back...

I received mine. It's really nice even though the joystick isn't very "smooth". I got scared because sometimes I "loose" the FFB but turns out that it is because theres a sensor in the front that detects the hand and stops the FFB is it is not detected
