I recently ran across this channel on youtube where this guy deconstructs his DIY A-10 Warthog sim pit - one of the most impressive parts of his build is the use of homemade analog gauges... and by homemade, the requirements would be a 3D printer and laser cutter - but still, the finished product looks amazing:
