Use of Oudie 2 external PDA with Condor 2

Post by ebkollgaard » Sat Jun 23, 2018 9:20 pm

I have an Oudie 2 PDA and the special connect cable from Cumulus Soaring and would like to set up with Condor 2 in my computer running Windows 7. Can anyone help with a step by step setup procedure?

You will need a driver for that cable. Recent windows versions are no longer supported, but as long as you use windows 7, this one should work:
http://www.prolific.com.tw/US/ShowProdu ... 25&pcid=41

then just follow the instructions on cumulus soaring:
https://www.cumulus-soaring.com/glidertools.htm

basically you just configure condor to enable nmea using the COM port created by the cable, and you configure the oudie to use external GPS data and configure its com port. I dont have an oudie, so I cant be more help there.

Alternatively, you should be able to use bluetooth instead of that cable, provided your PC has bluetooth and supports serial port service over bluetooth. This PDF might be helpful:

Thanks Jan. I haven't gotten around to getting the Oudie set up yet. I'm having too much fun with Condor 2 to take the time to work through the install.

Hi,
My Oudie 2 works perfectly until the fifth minute. Then the Oudie crashes. Is there something I ought to switch off?

Sadly have no experience with the pda. I have been trying to connect a phone with xc soar to condor via WIFI, following the steps from this thread: viewtopic.php?t=18563
after all steps are completed i tried connecting the phone to the virtual seriel port but i get the message "device occupied".
I already tried creating another comport or using another port entirely, but nothing seems to work.
has anyone had simmilar problems?
(sadly dont have bluetooth on my pc, as that seem way easier)

Hennconn, the only way I succeeded connecting a external pda to condor was bluetooth. My computer doesn't have either wifi nor bluetooth, but I found that a USB dongle for bluetooth is cheap, and more important, does the job

The message comes inside of XC Soar, while trying to connect to the port.

Mmm...really not sure of what I am talking about here.... but, connecting my XCSoar to the PC is something I don't do. By this I mean I "create a com" with HWSP3 (whatever the real name is..lol) and it connects to XCSoar...that is all.

On the "peripheral" page of XCSoar, the device goes from "not connected" to "no data" and will only start to "work" when in the plane.
the exact terms on XCSoar may be different as I am translating from a french app.

You can manually reconect, if the device cant establish the connection by itself. thats when i get that error. i think it means, that the comport in general isnt working.
