System requirement dude

Post by luisbriones » Thu Feb 15, 2018 4:35 pm

In the system requirement say:

The GPU should have benchmark (www.videocardbenchmark.net) result of 1000 minimum. 4000 is very good, and 8000 perfect.

This benchmark numbers is for overall computer or only for a graphic card?

Luis

It clearly says use videocardbenchmark.net

That is the measurement we use.

Sorry for my confusion. I had thought that you refers to using the program that is in the red circle of the aforementioned page.

I guess this is what you are referring to:

For my GTX 960 the number is 5805, luckily above the 4000

Well I don't understand any of that. You computer experts forget that some of us on here are pretty old and didn't grow up with computers.

My question:

Condor 2 is going to require me to buy a new computer. Is there a preferred make or type which I should buy? How do I know if it has a 'dedicated GPU' for instance. I was going to replace my mac mini with the latest model, get Bootcamp installed. and then Condor 2,but I don't want to buy something that won't run it without big mods. Can anybody help me please?

I don't think you can do it with a Mac Mini. The Intel graphics would be holding you back

I think any iMac with "Radeon Pro 555 with 2GB of VRAM" would be ok.
From here: - https://www.apple.com/uk/imac/specs/

Although I would go for the 4Gb VRAM version.

But I'm not an Apple expert, so please collect more opinions.

In beta team we have an Apple user. I will ask him to respond.

Thanks for that. I wanted to hang on to the mini because I have a big monitor (far bigger than any laptop). I guess I really need to buy a tower to get the flexibility of display, so perhaps someone could say where a PC in that format which meets the spec can be sourced. I doubt PC World or their equivalent would have what I need.

Olympia, you'll have to wait and see what final spec of the 2018 model comes out with. I just read that they may incorporate a discreet GPU which would most certainly be beneficial to have if they do include it. Macs inherently aren't designed for gaming so it will always end up being a bit of a compromise in my opinion.

Glad to see spending a little extra on a GPU several years ago is paying off. The old 780GTX still has life in it yet though it only has 3gb vram I'm hoping that'll handle things. When you state that a score if 8000 is perfect, is that for running the sim with high quality rendering and decent levels of Antialiasing and Anistropic filtering?

Looking forward to the imminent release

I would imagine you'd like some tech support close by. Is there a local independent computer shop who builds custom PCs near you?

Just show them our system requirements. Then come back here and tell us what they suggest..

I'm running with everything to max on a Dell 9560 laptop 1920x1080.

Getting frame rates >100 using the inbuilt GTX1050

Would this one be OK::

Dell Inspiron 3668 Desktop PC, Intel Core i7, 8GB RAM, 1TB HDD + 128GB SSD, GeForce GTX 1050, Black?

I do have a local outfit which actually built the PC my Condor V1 runs on, but I would rather buy something with a better guarantee.

I am also looking at the iMAC Retina 4K which I guess can be Bootcamped for Windows10 but this is getting a bit expensive!.

Anyway thanks for all the information. I think it may also be helpful to other folk like me.

Looks quite good. Check how much memory on the GTX1050.

And I would opt for more SSD. 128GB could fill up if you have other apps, or DGTFER continues his project of world domination by huge landscapes :)

Hopefully I can now max out everything and not get an OOM blue screen in those big landscapes. 16 gig of main memory 8 gig of GPU memory.
