Recommended PC for 3 Screen Setup
Our glider club is setting up a SIM. We got a cockpit through the SSA simulator program. We have to provide Condor, the PC, and monitors. We would like to go with a 3 screen setup. Can someone recommend a good PC with a graphics card that can handle 3 screens or tell me what specs to look for?
Here is what I'm thinking. It will be cheaper to get TV's rather than PC monitors. The cockpit instructions suggest 3- 40" TV's. It will probably be fine to go with 1080p TV's. We can go 4k if the price difference isn't too much.
Thank you.
Micheal

Unless you specifically want the very large screen area provided by 3 screens, you might consider a single ultrawide screen such as the Samsung 49 inch G9 which provides a wide display and is much simpler to configure. Assuming you're in the US., Amazon has a great deal around $980 on last year's version of the OLED right now. And for a gaming PC, look at CyberpowerPC. They have a wide range of gaming PCs and go for the best one your budget can afford; around $2,000 should do it.

Re: Recommended PC for 3 Screen Setup
I wouldn't advise 3x 4K. That's pushing your CPU/GPU way too much.
You want FoV. Big sized screens close to your eyes. 3x 40 or 50 inch second hand TV's is nice way to start. The bigger they are, the further away you can place them for the same FoV.
PS
- For Condor you need screens with the same size and resolution.
- Current Condor does not have bezel correction. Try to find screens with small bezels.
- Adding a higher screen (viewing clouds) is also not supported.

Re: Recommended PC for 3 Screen Setup
By the way, I tried Condor 3 in 4K in my TV, and it didn’t look so good, it seems that it doesn’t increase the resolution of the elements? I don’t know how to describe this.
After testing, I went back to my 1080p 27” monitor, where it looks well.

Did you change the screen resolution in the setup?

Sharing my experience to use a 65" 144Hz capable smart TV as CondorSim display.
1: right cable matters::
if your external PC display has white washed or faded looking, check your display settings and turn off HDR to see if makes any difference
1: right cable matters::
- 1st go was with more flexible 4K/60Hz HDMI cable plug into 144Hz HDMI port did not get PC screen until change to a 60Hz port. But Condor2/3 appeared to have up to half second lag at 3840 x 2160 resolution. Also found distorted edges on all texts/fonts and had to scale up 125% in Windows to get better display results.
- 2nd go with bulkier 8K/60Hz 4K/120Hz HDMI 2.1 (Ultra High Speed) cable and worked nicely had no noticeable lag at 3840 x 2160 on 144Hz port. No scaling needed just 100% and all texts appear normal without distortion. Condor instrument panel size is just fine, looking at ~2m distance, and PDA is very easy to read than previous 32” monitor also the scenery has more details as resolution is higher now. For those not yet ready for VR but want to have better visual experience for aging pair of eyes then bigger screen might be the way to go.
