Hello,
I think most have experienced this at least once: You are happily racing online and enjoying your evening. Then, all of a sudden your wifi "hick-ups" -zzzrrt - weird noise - and you are all alone.
I was wondering if an automatic reconnect feature is possible or planned? It is very frustrating being kicked into singleplayer and having no way of rejoining the other players.
Thanks !
Reconnect to Server mid-race?

Re: Reconnect to Server mid-race?
Unlikely. I see a myriad of problems with this. To name just one, you go offline, you can pauze. What happens if you pauzed for 5 minutes, then rejoin? It could also be abused by people to disconnect on purpose, so other cant see where they are going. Or to hide a possible upcoming crash from the server, and if you manage to survive, you rejoin.
A simpler solution may be just getting an ethernet cable or powerline adapter or something?

I see, but I don't think the points you mentioned are that much of an issue.
I guess it wouldn't be too hard jto keep pause mode on autopilot when the disconnected singleplayer flight has originated from multiplayer. So everything remains synced.
Disconnect on purpose (without rejoin) is already possible and could in some cases also lead to an advantage. Along with a couple of other "cheating" strategies, that are technically there in the current game state, I don't think there would be many people doing this, even if so - it's easily noticeable.
The last scenario isn't giving any advantage. If you crash and try to "hide" it from server - it will still be in the .ftr and if you don't upload at all - scored as crash anyway.
Of course wifi is more prone to connection issues, but every internet connection I have ever used has had problems from time to time. I think a rejoin possibility would cause more good than harm
