the only one to have always very high ping on one server

Post by Max Bberg » Thu Dec 26, 2024 12:31 am

I am having a serious ping problem on the server of 'Les Riders Du Far Wave'.
Ping goes between 200 and 1000, but not always, sometimes when I connect it is ok around 80.
If it is high, I am the only one to have a very high ping.
On all other (Condor) servers I have ever joined I never experienced this.
This has been happening for the last 1-2 months.
My internet connection seems not to be the problem since I do other multiplayer online sims and games and it does not happen.
If somebody has an idea what could be the problem or ideas for trouble shooting, very much appreciated.

I have a very similar problem, I only have problems with one competition, on all other servers it's ok. The internet connection looks ok. I haven't solved the problem yet, but I suspect that my internet provider is blocking the connection to the server or vice versa. I will try in next oportunity to connect via VPN and see if anything has changed. I really have no idea what the cause could be.
Oh, one thing I still remember is that at the very beginning of C3 when I connected to this server I got a message that I had been banned or removed (I don't remember) by the server due to high ping but later I try again and sucesfull conected to this server

When it is a single server it is most likely a routing issue (server physically located far away).

Hi, thanks Wiek for response but in my case it is definitely not a problem with distance. I have a fast internet connection via glasfibre, I checked that everything is ok with it and I probably can't find another better one in my place. I am from eu and I connect without any problems to all servers in eu like tchintchin, your dgc etc, my ping is stable. What's more yesterday I tried to connect to servers from America and my ping is of course a bit higher but acceptable and very stable.
I only have problems on Marburg servers, ping is very unstable usually around 60 but jumps sometimes up to 3000+. It looks like I have no response from the server, when I enter the game I do not see other participants (they appear after a few minutes), information from condor e.g. about starting a task or reaching a turn point, chat messages etc. comes with a large delay. When I disconnect the server probably doesn't see it and my condor sometimes hangs.
Today I try connected via hotspot from my phone and the ping on this server is stable but a bit high for flying with others.
I also tried to connect via VPN, the connection and ping looked very good on this server, but unfortunately my external XCSoar does not work in this configuration, so it is not a solution for me.
So it looks like something is blocking my IP to connect to the server or vice versa.
I don't know if it's a C3 error that I'm connecting through the wrong access point, but why only on this server?
I really don't know what to think about it, I probably won't change the internet prowider for a worse one just to be able to flying on one server additional...

Max Bberg mayby the solution for you is changing the ip adres if You can.

Something very simple you could try; ping and tracert the marburg server IP address. I dont know the IP, nor do I know if it will respond to pings if the server isnt running, but maybe ask (I would say, ping ;) ) Alexlee to ask the IP and run a ping and tracert.

If your pings are high that way too, then at least we can eliminate anything to do with condor as possible cause and it really can only be an interconnect issue somewhere between you and marburgs ISP, and the tracert may even shed some light on that.

The only other thing I can think off, is that its somehow related to IPv6. If you dont need IPv6, try disabling it completely in windows.

these servers are working, thanks for the tip I'll check it out

ok I check the pinging of server and it looks like something between me and marburg server is a trouble. It looks like the problem is that I am connecting to Marburg through very bad access points between, condor has nothing to do with it.
