Re: Vintage Series
The last task of the season 2023, task K, is started now. We will have a "return" with a little bit lower cloud base (1200 m) and moderate and normal width thermals. Conditions will be good but for sure not as bombastic as task J.
Due to Christmas this task will run until end of January, before the new season with some improved rules will start in February.
The example flight plan starts in Billund, landscape ScandinaviaSW. Christmas is the time to remember our childhood, and Billund is the home of Lego, my favorite toys when I was a kid. Of course as always you can fly where you want.
Task J will run until tomorrow, I will end it tomorrow round about 9:00 UTC.
All are welcome to try the Vintage Series

Re: Vintage Series
Task J is finished now, here the overall results.
We had 4 participants this month again and bombastic conditions. The flights with the most points of the season are done in this task.
Thanks to all flying the Series and for the good discussions we have had in Discord.

Re: Vintage Series
The last task in the Series 2023 is running, so we will have a last multiplayer flight too. Usually the last Thursday in a month this time it will be a week earlier, Thursday 18th of January 19:30 UTC on server Vintage Series.
With Condor 3 right around the corner I guess Slovenia2 will be forgotten very soon. So we will celebrate the end of the season with a multiplayer flight on Slovenia2, start at Lesce-Bled.
What to fly is very easy, the task type is "Return". With release from the towplane the task starts immediately. 1:45 h (= 105 minutes) time to fly where you want, but be back in Lesce-Bled in time. The distance (and the points) will be calculated by your track over 5 turn points.
Pick a plane you like best from that list: GrunauBaby, SG38, Blanik, K8, Ka6CR, SGS1-26, ASW15, Libelle, PilatusB4 or StdCirrus.
All planes are to fly without ballast, no fixed and no water ballast (f.x. Blanik only single seater).
Or if you like ballast, take ASW20 or LS3a.
All planes of course without PDA!
All are welcome to try the Vintage Series.
Find all rules and information on the web side, or meet us on Discord.
The end of the season will not be the end of the Series. In February the new season will start with some improved rules. More info about that later this month.

Re: Vintage Series
After a nice multiplayer flight last night with three competitors and three other guests on the server it's time to think about the new season, starting 1st of February.
We have made some rule changes to achieve these goals
https://prosjekt.baleit.no/condor/VS24.pdf
Everyone is welcome to join us. If you enjoy flying without PDA in a primarily offline competition where flights of more than 2 hours are not necessary, then you've come to the right place.
See you in the Vintage Series 24

- More focus on flying
- Relief for VR pilots
- All planes can be used

Re: Vintage Series
The time is running, the first month of the new year is nearly finished. Time to start the third season of the Vintage Series, now with the new rules of the Vintage Series 24.
Here a short description of task A 2024
Standard categories
We will start with an easier task. We have a task type "Return". Fly where you want and return to the start airport. The counting distance will be calculated by 5 turn points. Nice weather with a lower cloud base, but else good thermals. The example task starts in Torun in NWPoland. Due to the river Wisla it should be very easy to navigate. So I think a good place to fly first time without pda, possible with VR too. But as always you can fly where you want. Choose the landscape and the start airport by yourself.
OneDesign
New in Vintage Series 24 is the OneDesign category, where we fly a fixed task with SGS1-26 without ballast. That means a different task type, different weather and a fixed landscape and start point. See the documentation in the post above. If you fly this category you have to use exactly the defined flight plan. You will find it in the task document on the web side. Please ask if you don't find it.
http://www.baleit.no/vs24.nsf/cc3db167a ... enDocument
The task type will be a new one with the name "Target with 2 turn points". That means: You start at the start airport and fly to the target airport for to land there. The counting distance will be calculated by 2 turn points on your track. A possible strategy can be to fly to the target and then an out and return from the target in the remaining time. Try to get the biggest distance in the time limit, but don't land too early.
Because your time starts with release please ignore all messages from Condor. There is no start gate or section. All calculation happens by your track in the igc file (as always on Vintage Series).
Start airport is Harris Hill on FingerLakes, target is Williamsport, round about 100 km to the south. Weather is similiar to the "Return" task, but with 17 km/h wind from west. Maybe the ridge in the west can help, but I haven't tried it yet.
Here the task on a relief map.
Time calculation for all flights is like AAT with a minimum time of 1:45 (105 minutes)
On the server will run task K from season 2023 until it ends tomorrow, then the example task from Torun will be started.
All are welcome to try a nice and relaxed offline competition without pda.

Re: Vintage Series
Vintage Series season 2023 is complete. We have had a very nice task K with 5 pilots, including a multiplayer flight with 3 pilots.
In the whole season we have had 8 pilots, 206 flights on 27 landscapes and a distance of 25.663,8 km, in average 124,5 km per flight in planes between SG 38 and ASW 20.
Congratulations and many thanks to everyone who followed us, flew with us and discussed with us.
This season we have also tried some new things, some have worked better, others have not. We will take the good things into the new season and eliminate the others.
Here now the final results 2023. Well done all!
The new season has already begun. All are welcome to the new season 2024. Try the new Vintage Series 24, now with possibilities for using all planes. Experience the fun in flying without PDA!

Re: Vintage Series 24
The first month of the new season is over soon, so today task B is started. Task A will continue until tomorrow. On the server will run task A until it's finished, but this here is most of all an offline event.
Task B will be a little bit experimental, first time in the whole series we really have wind.
The example task for the usual categories starts in Innsbruck, task type is "2 turn points", that is like an FAI triangle. Weather conditions should be good with 25 km/h wind and very strong but narrow thermals to become familiar with mountain flying. Maybe we will like it, will see. Of course you can fly as always where you want with the same weather conditions.
The fixed task for the OneDesign is a return task, it has wind too and starts, inspired by a wave camp IRL there, in Lake Placid on landscape Fingerlakes. Maybe there will be wave, but I'm not sure it will work. It's to find out ...
All are welcome to try the Vintage Series 24. And it's not to late to fly task A today

Re: Vintage Series
Task A is finished with flights of 5 pilots, that is a very good start in the season.
The new rules seems to be good, more relaxed flying with the new AAT-like time rule, and time enough for a good landing.
Thanks and congratulations to all pilots. All are welcome to try task B of the Vintage Series 24 with weather conditions to fly in the mountains.
Here the result for the championship
and the best others

Due to Eastern we will have the usual multiplayer flight one week earlier. It will take place Thursday 21th of March 19:30 UTC on server VintageSeries24.
We will use the example flight plan of this month, landscape Alps, starting from Innsbruck. Tasktype is "2 turn points". Conditions are nice with good thermals, ridge and wave. It's a very interesting experience flying in the Alps without pda, using the relief map is very helpful.

Re: Vintage Series
Hello,
Just to be sure to understand : In the multiplayer task each pilot flight begins when the rope is released. No matter for join time and race start delay.
And there is no need of screen shot to justify the start.
Am I right ?

Hei,
yes, it's absolute right. Start time begins with release, no start section, no screen shot, no defined turn points, they will be calculated by your track when importing the igc file. Start, release, fly where you want (but remember the task type, this month "2 turn points", that is nearly an FAI triangle) and have fun. Very easy

Re: Vintage Series 24
I'm not at home 1st of April, therefor task C is started now. Task B will continue until 2nd of April.
We now have usually 2 servers running. "VintageSeries24" runs the usual task, "VintageSeries24_OneDesign" runs the OneDesign task. There is a 3rd server available if we need it. "VintageSeries24" and "VintageSeries24_OneDesign" will continue running task B until 2nd of April, but on "VintageSeries24_Special" runs the usual task of task C.
With task C we come back to flat land, we have an "Out and return" with moderate and wide thermals, the example task starts at Stade on GermanyN. There is good orientation along the river "Elbe", but I guess a trip heading SSE in the "Lüneburger Heide" will get better conditions (maybe only IRL, not in Condor). Of course as usual you can fly where you want and there is no need to fly on a server.
The fixed task for OneDesign starts in Sheppard on Oklahoma. There we have a "2 turn points" with moderate thermals too, but normal width.
The new overtime rule leads to longer flights, so the time limit of 105 minutes we used until now is configurable yet. We will try this month a time limit of 90 minutes for both tasks.
All are welcome to try the Vintage Series 24, but maybe not at Easter, friends and family are for sure more important than virtual gliding
Happy Easter to all!

Re: Vintage Series 24
Vintage Series first ever mountain task is finished. It was really interesting, new experiences and new challenges, as always without pda.
We have had 5 pilots, that is a very good number for the series. Thanks to all flying with us, hope to see you all again in the current task.
Here the result list so far
