The first season of the Vintage Series is finished now. We startet in January 2022. For me it was a very exciting and interesting journey to create a competition different than all the others with focus on

Fly where you want
Fly when you want
Fly efficient, no flight longer than a tv film

Thanks to all for your feedback and the discussion about the Series and a lot of other interesting things. A very special thank to Brad, flying all tasks in all categories and David, flying a lot of flights and nearly all multiplayer flights.

Here some statistics

Pilots: 14
Planes: 12
Flights: 226
Distance: 27 912 km
Time: 369 h

Average distance: 123,5 km / flight
Average speed: 75,6 km/h

The final result:

Much more important than the result is the fun we have had, and I think, we have had a lot of it. So congratulations to all trying the Series.

With the season 2022 behind us we have started the new season 2023 including the BaleIT Vintage Series Championship.

All are welcome to join!

Task A of the 2023 Vintage Series is running. Weather conditions aren't everybody's darling, very strong but narrow thermals, low activity and 2/8 high clouds. "Challenging" to say it as positive as possible with a lot of outlandings until now.

Next Thursday, 23rd of February, we will have our usual multiplayer flight, always last Thursday of the month.

We will start at Homestead on the landscape Everglades, easy navigation along Miami to the north and back again possible, but you can of course fly where you want. Join in is 19:30 UTC on the VintageSeries server.

All are very welcome to try

Task A is still running until end of February, results can be uploaded until 1st of March ca. 10 a.m. UTC.

Today task B started parallel, so on weekend you can chose between task A and B. It will run until end of March.

Thermalsstrength in task B is normal with high variation, thermalswidth is wide with low variation, no higher clouds.

Task type is "2 turn points". How to fly that?

To fly is an FAI triangle, where no leg is shorter than 28 % of the whole distance. The triangle is defined by the release point, two turn points and the start point, when you return. So the release point and the start point is defined as one point of the triangle. The triangle don't have to be closed. See the picture with the calculation of an earlier flight

Time limit is as always 105 minutes, 1:45 h.

Good luck

Task A is finished now. We have had flights from 4 pilots, it's a good start of the season. And we have had some interests without an uploaded flight, so until now it can be an interesting season.

Thanks to all for your flights, discussions and following.

Usually we have a multiplayer flight on the last Thursday of the month, in March it will be on 16th because of holidays. There will come an invitation in time.

Finally the results, congratulations to all trying the Vintage Series. Because we tell only the best 7 out of 11 tasks it's not to late to join. Welcome

March 16th 19:30 UTC will be the next multiplayer flight, earlier than usual because of holidays.

Task B is not that easy either, cloud base 1200 m, low activity and flats activity and a moderate turbulence. Moderate and wide thermals sounds better than it is. Especially the slower planes have their problems with that. But it's flyable and it reminds me of real flying. Average climb rate round about 1,5 m/sec isn't really bad. Patience is the top priority. And luck not to meet too many dying clouds.

We will fly in my old homelands, will see if the "Lüneburger Heide" is as good as IRL with that weather conditions. So we use the landscape "NorthGermany" (the old one, not the new GermanyN) starting in Fassberg. Remember, there are two runways, we will use the northern.

All are welcome!
