Condor World Cup 22
Condor World Cup 22
Excuse me for wondering but how can someone submit a flight track for this competition, flying an ASW20 at speeds in excess of 160kts without ripping the wings off.
I noted on one flight track speeds of 167kts in a ASW 20 which is way beyond the VNE.
Maybe there is a simple explanation.

Condor CN = E20
Re: Condor World Cup 22
I can understand that if the flight track was downwind but not the case on the flight track I viewed.
Condor CN = E20
Re: Condor World Cup 22
True airspeed? Altitude? Remember that for a given IAS the TAS increases by about 10 kph per 1000 meters

May I suggest that you give a link to said flight track (by PM if you feel there may be confidentiality issues)

Re: Condor World Cup 22
Does TAS not equal ground speed (with no wind)?
@Andy, was the 167kts IAS or ground speed?
Re: Condor World Cup 22
Correct. Condor Club shows groundspeed in its flight analyses, which is TAS plus or minus the windcomponent. So higher speed than Vne can be shown.

Re: Condor World Cup 22
I was just looking at one of the flight tracks on the Condor flights analysis option. Not sure what speed this displays I assumed airspeed. Thank you for your explanations. It would appear that some contestants fly the task as they would in real Life (conservatively and enjoy the task) whilst some like to fly at close to vne as possible for the glory of being first.

2018 - Silver Badge complete - Forgot I could claim for the 100km diploma flying an out and return
2019 - Get up to speed and aim for a 300km task?! maybe.....
