MLCC :: Montluçon Condor Competition :: 15m Class (Nov. 11th - Dec. 16th)
MLCC :: Montluçon Condor Competition :: 15m Class (Nov. 11th - Dec. 16th)
Hello all!
Another Thursday's event... Something for fans of slower flying.
Our more or less realistic contest in 15m gliders again - but with reason... This time will be smthng special.
Competition inspired by the WGC 2021 for 15 m class in Montluçon-Guéret / France:
https://www.soaringspot.com/en_gb/wgc20 ... eret-2021/
Tasksetter's comment:
Because the weather in the RL competition was very challenging, this contest will be harder than usual competitions.
There are many days with weak thermals and low cloud base.
Only in the 'good days' of this competition, you will exceed an average of 100 km/h.
[Will see. I believe C2 is faster...]
MLCC :: 15m Class
(Nov. 11th - Dec. 16th, 2021)
Attention - due to calendar and Christmas and tasks specific - there will be no Practice Day this time!
But instead - as landscape test/practice day - we have 24/7 server: MLCC (Promo Practise)
You can just check scenery if all is correct, but you can fly the task as well (inspired by Day 3 of RL event).
https://virtualsoaring.eu/serverlist/go ... BMFDSRDFHF
or use: https://virtualsoaring.eu/serverlist/?mlcc
or just click:

Re: MLCC :: Montluçon Condor Competition :: 15m Class (Nov. 11th - Dec. 16th)
Hello!
Today we will start Montluçon Condor Competition.
Day 1 will be this evening - fyi: in RL it was fourth task.
Scenery is FRN 0.5 - if someone still need, please get it ASAP (as it is not small). Although not all have premium account at c-c,
here is the magnet link for this landscape:
magnet:?xt=urn:btih:a1fe3b681a37148368c0750d527c35e49b5c54e3&tr=http://tracker.opentrackr.org:1337/announce
(BTW: FRN and other sceneries there: https://skylinescondor.com/landscapes)
Anyway - I highly recommend Condor Club as fast and reliable source of landscapes but also other great goodies like skins, PDA maps etc.
A Premium membership cost only 12 euros per year and can be subscribed with Paypal for an immediate availability. IMHO worth to have it.
See you on server! GL!

Hello all,
Above, It was not just typical advertising. ;D
1 EUR per month is not bad price for such big'n'fast data storage. Not mention rest of condor club services.
Day 1
In short - was not easy but flyable. Will see next tasks.
Congratulations to Jarek (1JK), Sean (S19) and Kelvin (ICU)! Welcome new pilots on the podium! Or all was there already?!
Notice - Frank (O9) made great flight, but did it later, so it will be not scored overall (but I left his result in SCI stats etc - for compare).
BTW - as expected - we were much faster than RL of this day (66.57 km/h!).
Results on c-c: https://www.condor.club/comp/besttimes/0/?id=19539
Results on CSV Sharing Tool (sortable SCI stats columns): https://csv.virtualsoaring.eu/?f=mlcc_d1--2021.11.17
Overall: https://www.condor.club/comp/globalscore/211/?&id=627
Some stats from SCI
As usually: FTRs > CoFliCo > IGCs > SCI 2.63b click to enlarge
mCR: average climb rate in m/s for the task | mGN: mean gliding number (gliding number without influence of wind)
mIAS: mean indicated airspeed (the speed you see on your speedometer, the real speed is higher depending on the altitude) | nLift: number of lifts
DeltaGN: additional gliding number (difference between mGN and GN of speed polar) | Vmet: average of rising and sinking air
AltLift: average climbed in a lift | Detour: Detour in percent, only gliding passages are regarded.
Notice - when weather is 'weak' some pilots may dump ballast, some flying without etc - it influences stats depend on polar, but also mCR etc.
If someone would like to have all ftrs to refly with ghosts or igcs for deeper analyse etc. Drop me a msg.
Thanks all for joining, and see you on Day 2: AAT 1 h 45 min

Hello all,
Day 2 was hard for me (flutter/crash, on 2nd flight - serious problems with centering), but looks like good results could be achieved!

Re: MLCC :: Montluçon Condor Competition :: 15m Class (Nov. 11th - Dec. 16th)
Hi PIT! Thanks for the MD5. I just checked the archive I downloaded via torrent:
UAR and I were unable to join the flight last Thursday due to Condor blue screen crash. Fun fact that the scenery works (offline) on some airports but still crashes on Montlucon and nearby (I also tried running task from *.ftr of the 1st race). I'm attaching logs in case Condor/scenery devs want to take a look.
TL;DR:
Code: Select all
ENTERED SIMULATION AT 21:31:07.
GroundObjects.AutoObjects.Update at 21:31:07: Access violation at address 006CE261 in module 'Condor.exe'. Read of address 00000008.

Re: MLCC :: Montluçon Condor Competition :: 15m Class (Nov. 11th - Dec. 16th)
Hello!
Hmmm... Very strange. :/ You have very good GPU etc...
Md5 of scenery you've tested inside Landscapes folder, right?
GroundObjects.AutoObjects.Update
Well - maybe planes? Tows staying on ground or Diana u use is broken? Or ground/plane/objects (but not from scenery but C2 build-in) or textures?
Really do not have clue... :/ Maybe try to write to support@condorsoaring.com too, or maybe someone else has an idea!?
Small query... Here was the same error:
viewtopic.php?f=32&t=19711&p=168998&hil ... te#p168998
In short - there was problem with missing textures, but please read it carefully and test FRN with mentioned app
'Scenery Check 2': https://www.condorsoaring.com/downloads-2/
Same issue but no answer:
viewtopic.php?f=30&t=19483&p=167556&hil ... te#p167556
Same, no fix:
viewtopic.php?f=32&t=19036&p=164473&hil ... te#p164473
Another one:
viewtopic.php?f=37&t=19035&p=164472&hil ... te#p164472
Please at first check FRN with 'Scenery Check 2'. Then check md5s of main folders of C2 maybe... Smthng must be wrong somewhere.
BTW: it was RapidCRC Unicode https://ov2.eu/programs/rapidcrc-unicode - but it does not matter - files are OK...
Strange is that both of you have the same problem - have you exchange some C2 files, also not directly related to FRN scenery, I mean.

Hi PIT! Thanks for taking a look at the issue. I have run Scenery Check and it passed without any errors. Also, I tried reinstalling Condor completely - didn't help. I'm gonna report the issue to Condor and scenery developers. Have a nice competition!

Hello all,
@AL1: Yes - good idea - we can't do much more ourself.
There is very mystery coincidence because two of you have exactly same (?) problem...
Day 3 was hard and indeed weak! Unprecedented in C2.
Well done Paul (57) Frank (O9) and Mihaly (KMI)! Hats off!
Please, if possible - tell us a few words about your flights - how much ballast you used? What was your idea for such conditions?
BTW - We are closer to RL this time (90.44 km/h).

Re: MLCC :: Montluçon Condor Competition :: 15m Class (Nov. 11th - Dec. 16th)
Hello!
Day 4 was tricky to me. I need to read ShowGliderDat pdf manual again - with understand this time... :]
On podium: Sean (S19), Mihaly (KMI) and Stephen (SJH)! CGR gents!
FYI: Helmut (F9) as we see was fastest, but he is flying as 'unranked' - 'Hors Concours'.
Please F9, if possible - tell us a few words about your flight - how much ballast you used? What was your idea for such conditions?
Results on c-c: https://www.condor.club/comp/besttimes/0/?id=19545
This time no sortable csv table, as all just fit in one SCI screenshot.
Will use CSV Sharing Tool when more pilots will be on score list.

Some stats from SCI at oldskool screenshot...
Top three flights (notice - never too close to 500 m) click to enlarge
Thanks for flight, see you on Day 5 - next task will be classical race (better weather?).
Last day will be AAT, so as usual few articles worth to read:

Re: MLCC :: Montluçon Condor Competition :: 15m Class (Nov. 11th - Dec. 16th)
Some Infos to my Flight on Day4
Thermals are weak but with high variation. Normally you can think about dropping some ballast, but the thermal width was very high. So you can circle with a low bank. Together with flats activity=high I decided to fly with full ballast. I also tried to fly under clouds without circling to increase the gliding number. I turned TP1 in an altitude of about 700 m and was lucky to get a lift after TP1. Then I tried to keep high and set MC to about 1.2 m/s. Together with some luck I could complete the flight with a good average speed.

Re: MLCC :: Montluçon Condor Competition :: 15m Class (Nov. 11th - Dec. 16th)
Hello all!
I am sorry for the delay... As you see, there is not 1000 pts for the winner of that day (I made a mistake when uploading fpl, I suppose):
https://www.condor.club/comp/besttimes/0/?id=19549
We're waiting for Thierry's fix (hope it is possible) of D6 results, to announce final standings...
Anyway... More important is... ...everyone!

Re: MLCC :: Montluçon Condor Competition :: 15m Class (Nov. 11th - Dec. 16th)
Hello!
Sorry for huge delay - but anyway - will post those historical data.
Opposite to previous - Day 5 was very lucky for me.
On podium: me (PIT), Claude (CSI) and Stephen (SJH)! CGR!
FYI: Helmut (F9) as we see was 3rd, but he is flying as 'unranked' - 'Hors Concours'.
Results on c-c: https://www.condor.club/comp/besttimes/0/?id=19547
This time no sortable csv table, as all just fit in one SCI screenshot.
Will use CSV Sharing Tool when more pilots will be on score list.

There was scoring problems on Day 6, now all is fixed, so here are results...
CGR goes to Frank (O9), Kelvin (ICU) and Jon (123)... Well done.
On Condor-club: https://www.condor.club/comp/besttimes/0/?id=19549
