USA Night Soaring connection, Host Not Found

Post by Condor22019$ » Mon Mar 16, 2020 2:30 am

Hello,
I am having intermittent issues connection to the USA Nightly Soaring Race. I am able to connect 70% of the time.
When I cannot connect I receive the "host not found" message.
When I cannot connect I restart my browser and condor, and have tried both the Condor Server List as well as Hitziger's Alternate Server list.
I have also checked my anti virus and firewall software and it is not to blame.
Strangely enough I have been able to connect to the "refly" race later the same night?
Any troubleshooting suggestions would be much appreciated.

Howdy,

Feel free to PM if you have any further troubles. I think the server should be consistent now.

All the best,
Daniel

I could not connect tonight due to "host not found" :( This has happened a few times before. My internet was working normally and I was able to connect to other Condor servers both immediately before and after attempting to connect to USNS server.

Howdy,

What time are you trying to connect? Maybe it was too early or too late?

Try using the alternate list, or the main list.

All the best,
Daniel

I am missing this competition as it doesn't show up on the Condor Server Page. Is there a direct IP address available to the server?

Could Server IPs be given for all tasks on each task page, as recently the Condor Server is missing quite a number of tasks. Perhaps it is overloaded in these Covid 19 days?

Many thanks

John,
I'm on the east coast of Australia . I don't have problems connecting to US Nightly Soaring .

But I do have problems with the newly introduced US Late Night Soaring . The server doesn't appear at condor-club advertised times .

In Sydney the regular Nightly Soaring starts at 11am EST , i.e local time . Ping rates are good and the connection is rarely dropped.

If codorsoaring serverlist isn't working I try this

https://condor.hitziger.net/serverlist/

and vice versa

Thanks CircusOz,

I have bookmarked the hitziger url for future use.

As you may have seen in my other posts, Gliding New Zealand had issues with the Condor Server page, so they have given the server's url on their page here....
https://www.condor-club.eu/comp/show/0/?id=434

And they have a new Grand Prix comp starting here....
https://www.condor-club.eu/comp/show/0/?id=454

I have only flown is a couple as I am new to Condor (but old in gliding). Some very fast pilots in the NZ comp!

Cheers

I have heard back from the organisers of USA Late Night Soaring, and they have had problems with their server, which they believe they have fixed.

I'm looking forward to the next race!

Greetings,

I'm the dude who runs the servers that host US Nightly Soaring, Monday Night Soaring, and Late Night Soaring.

I've had... issues... with my hosting setup, so I moved everything into The Cloud and I'm hoping things will be smoother going forward.

Late Night Soaring was particularly impacted by this. I'll spare everyone the technical details, but... hoping things will be smoother going forward.

Cheers,
-Mark Rebuck

I tried the link posted by Daniel on teamspeak for Discord (the cloud) got only unable to display web page. Am I correct to assume the the link will not work unless the server is up and running?

Daniel could you post the link here and any technical help for connecting to the Discord server. My first attempt said I did not have an account, another said my invite had expired.

Thanks

Discord and the Condor server are two different things. Discord will always work, regardless of if the USNS/MNS/LNS server is up.

https://discord.gg/rSZgbdU for the Discord server.

Starting tonight, we are trying to get people to use Discord instead of the TeamSpeak server. The TeamSpeak server is in Europe, so the sound quality and responsetime should be better with Discord.

Cheers,
