Condor 2: Minimum computer specs for the server

Post by mbamberg » Sat Jan 18, 2020 12:10 am

All,

I need to change my server computer from a Core i3-6100 3.7 GHz, with 4GB.

I have the following laptop: Celeron N3350 1.1GhZ, with 4GB.

Is that enough computer to use as a server?

Mike

Uros, Chris, anybody,

Is there a known minimum computer spec for the server?

Since it's not running any graphics I would have thought anything running W7 or 10 would suffice, although for some reason I never had any luck running the server on my old laptop.

There is nothing to stop you from running an instance of the game patched into the server, and the server itself, on the same PC.

Why don't you just try it..?

I have been running Condor V1 servers on an AMD Turion™ II Neo N40L (1.5GHz). It ran fine, but it is not a fast system to work with. So setting things up and booting was quit slow...

Comparing : i3-6100 vs N40L vs N3350

Thanks for the replies!

I've decided to do just what you suggest and try it out, probably tonight.

I really don't want to serve a task on my system while flying the task. I also want to provide a constantly available task to my club, even if I'm not flying Condor at the moment.

I managed to get Condor 2 dedicated server running on Microsoft Azure with the shared machine you get free for a year (cant remember it now). Had to strip out a lot of the map files as the disk was really small, think memory was 1GB, minimal cpu. To be fair though the max number of people I ever got connected was 4, but then again only ran the bronze, silver, gold tasks on rotation.

All,

It appears that my "minimum" machine is working fine. Thanks for the input.
