Re: TCC :: Taupo Condor Competition :: 18 metre Class
That's what I planned to ask for. Perfect add-on to this awesome scenery!
Almost signed myself to LINZ Data Service.
Thank you very much!
BTW: Taupo is located at the outlet of Lake Taupo, New Zealand's largest lake, in the northeast part of the lake where it discharges to the Waikato River. Lake Taupo occupies the caldera of the Taupo Volcano in the centre of the North Island of New Zealand. You can easy to spot the lake on small map above. (Never been there - info from Wikipedia, so may be not accurate).
The map above have coloured outlines:
Red : Invisible Scenery Border
Yellow : Line were the Scenery Edge gets visible. Avoid this area. Thermalmap is gradualy reduce to zero
Green : All is okay up to here.
[from Nephi manual - I gues here is the same]

Re: TCC :: Taupo Condor Competition :: 18 metre Class
For those who want to participate in this competition.
There are 2 dds textures with a small glitch, the improved ones are downloadable from my google drive.
They are not necessary to be able to fly online.
I assume that you know how to unzip and replace a dds file.
Here is the link:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1IpgPTp ... sp=sharing
I'll wait a while to see if more will be reported, and then put them in CondorClub at once.

Re: TCC :: Taupo Condor Competition :: 18 metre Class
I was working on a Matamata task for L&S. Something to keep in mind is there seem to be quite a few flying objects. Large ones like balloons, which are easy to spot and avoid, but for instance on the hill near Tarawera there are hang gliders and they can be really hard to see when you come at high speed. And its not like there are any other hills nearby.
Condor considers a collision with them as a ground object collision, so if you hit one, its game over. Im not sure what I think of that. Its at the same time cool and not unrealistic, but the fact they dont move makes it rather difficult and if a soaring competition where flown on Tarawera airport, I imagine they would ground the hang gliders? If you plan tasks in such area's do tell your pilots or maybe set penalty zones?
Hele mooie scenery trouwens Jan!

Re: Matamata_DEM (Scenery map: Matamata)
Can you make this map available by Google Drive or something similar. I can't d/l goodies from CC. Something with some protocol problem.
Thanks.

Matamata Maps on DropBox
I might update it or add an extra version with cities and roads.
IRWIR or never will be if I don't like it...

Re: TCC :: Taupo Condor Competition :: 18 metre Class
There is a minor flattening error at the Taupo gliding club.
I have decided to update this after the TCC to prevent logging in with the wrong version.

Results of yesterdays practice day:
CGR to the winners! Notice 1 sec. difference!
Agree - was too short and/or conditions too perfect. Also - as we see - unpopular Ventus have the power.
See you next Tuesday.
