The May task D is finished, thanks all to fly with us and congratulation to Brad winning all three categories.

Task E for June is open now. The weather: a higher cloud base, strong but narrow thermals and more covered.

The task type is triangle.

Fly as long as you can in the time limit and return to the start airport. If you return to the start airport, your result is the direct distance of the biggest FAI triangle you have flown (minimum length of one leg is 28 % of the triangle). The relase point and the landing point is calculated as one and the same corner of the triangle. And you get the bonus for the return.

If you don't return, your result is 80 % of the flight length calculated with the positions after every 5th minute of your flight.

Good luck all flying the Vintage Series

Announcement to the next Multiplayer event of the Vintage Series.

We will fly together task E on Thursday 30. June start from18:30 UTC on the Vintage Series server, communication via Discord. The tasktype is "2 turn points" (before announced as "triangle", but renamed due to misunderstandings).

We are flying as usual with a time limit (depending on the category of the plane 90, 105 or 120 minutes, see all details on the homepage of the Vintage Series), the time starts with releasing and ends with landing.

You decide where you want to fly, the system looks for the direct flown distance around 2 turn points, where each leg is minimum 28 % of the whole distance. It's like an FAI triangle, but you don't have to close it. Release point and landing point is calculated as one and the same corner of the triangle. See the picture for a possible valid flight.

We will use the landscape CW-V, you get it for free on https://www.condorworld.eu/

Start point is Nove mesto, because it should be helpful for the navigation with the lake near the airport. From there we have enough space to the west and the south. Weather isn't too good, strong but narrow thermals with 5/8 high clouds. Nice to fly with really slow planes like the Baby, challenging with the faster ones.

All are welcome, if you have flown the Vintage Series before or not. Hope to see you ;-)

Remember: No ballast! No water, no MTOW

Last chance to fly task E of the Vintage Series today, tonight 18:30 UTC organized multiplayer on the server, but always possible offline or on the server.

It's summer time with not many competitors, but not less exciting, never thought that it could become as good as it is at the moment. Thanks and congratulation so far especially to Brad. My most interesting flights in my short Condor career are the remote fights with you.

All are welcome to join us, never to late to try a very exciting remote competition.

Tomorrow starts a new month and the new task F. More information then.

It was a nice evening. Two pilots, two flights, two SGS1-26 and two outlandings ;-). But we have had a lot of fun. Thanks! We may try it again next month.

Thank you Peter for setting up and flying the Vintage Series! I would encourage others to try these challenging tasks with us, they are absolute fun! I am always excited when I get the chance to fly a Vintage Series plane and task...even just to see if I can get close to Peter's performance. I suppose you could say I'm addicted.

After two more challenging tasks we now have lazy summer days on Vintage Series. Task F is started now for July. We will have nice weather what is best to go to the beach ;-)

Cloud base is 2400 - 2500 meters, but inversion height 2000, and no high clouds, so we will have a very blue sky. Thermals are moderate but very wide, so they will be good if you find them.

The task type is "Free", fly where you want and get the distance kilometers from SkylinesCondor as result. We used this task type on task A, but with a very bad weather.

Of course you can fly where you want. The example tasks on the server for task F are these 3:

NorthGermany starting at Bueckeburg
NWPoland starting at Torun
GTA (beta 3, good enough to use now) starting at Eagleville

At all tasks you have minimum 400 km space with tail wind, that will be more than enough. Because of not to return it's a good time to explore the region you are flying.

Enjoy the summer flights and good luck!

Finally the overall results after task E. Remember, only the 7 best of 11 results telling, and fun is more important than rank. Congratulation and thanks to all joining us.

The next multiplayer flight will be 28th July 18:30 UTC.

We will fly in the Alps, not my favorite region, but in holiday time it's maybe nice to take a trip in the mountains. Wind 240 with 1,5 m/s will not make ridges to work, but I hope for some good blue thermals, when the sun is shining on the green mountains. Have not tested if it's true ;-)

Start is Zell am See, to the east border of the landscape is 250 km space, it will be enough. But of course if you want to fly more "hardcore" Alps you can fly first to the west or any other direction. Task type is "Free", so the distance from SkylinesCondor will be your result (SkylinesCondor: The program finds five turnpoints in your track that give you the most distance along line segments between the turnpoints).

We will use the landscape CW-A

All are welcome to join

Some hints:

The tow plane is set to 1000 m, Zell am See is 750 m, so you can release in 1750 ASL. In the calculation of the distance is a 1000 m rule, if you land below 750 m with a release in 1750 m, the distance is calculated only to the last point, you was 750 m high. You can release lower or fly to the 750 m height and hurry down there because of the time limit.

Like all flights in Vintage Series we are flying without ballast, no water, no fixed.

The future came to the Vintage Series. Today we got a new category with the very young planes ASW20 and LS3a ;-)

In Condor they can't fly in 15 m and in my opinion they don't belong to the club class. So they got a sanctuary in form of the new category named "LS3" in the Vintage Series, where they can compete with each other. Only planes in this new category are allowed to use ballast, fixed and water. Time limit is 2 hours, the same as the "Cirrus" category.

Same procedure as every month? Yesterdays multiplayer task was nearly the same like last month: Two pilots, two same planes, this time ASW 15, and again two outlandings. We have had a fantastic 10 minutes lift to the base in 2.600 meters ASL over the Alps and then 30 minutes a long flight with absolute nothing. Only a good view over the mountains because of the blue sky. We landed out at the same place. Was again fun but not that we wanted to do. We have to brake this routine next month ;-)

Today the next task G started, a little bit earlier because of holidays next week. Until Sunday both tasks can be flown, but on the server only the new task is active. The tasks on the server starts

NorthGermany from Höpen
NWPoland from Koszalin
GTA from Marion

We continue with lazy days before it will be more challenging again from September. Augusts task has a fantastic weather, strong and wide thermals and a cloud base between 1.800 und 1.900 meters, inversion height 2.200 meters. Task type is "Out", so the direct distance from the release point to the landing is telling. Despite the good weather there will be only one winning in each category. I'm curious how far we will come.

We are now flying in 4 categories, from Grunau Baby (1932) to ASW 20 (1977), what an improvement in only 45 years. Very interesting to use the planes of that time in Condor.

All are welcome to try the Vintage Series!

August (task G) really has a very good weather ("Hammerwetter" in German). It gives the chance for a nice SG 38 flight, did 37 km, but didn't got the last lift, so I think round about 45 km is possible in the time limit of 90 minutes.

On the other side we have the new category for the older 15 m planes with ballast. We will see how far we come with those planes. In the Cirrus category we have a flight over 212 km in the time limit of 120 minutes (same time limit for the 15 m planes) with an empty Cirrus. How far comes a full ASW 20? Maybe someone will show us what is possible.

The experiences with these planes are not so much in the group yet, there were bought 4 planes in the last days, 2 ASW 20 and 2 LS 3, maybe the Condor team starts to like the Series ;-)

I bought both planes and flew only a 20 minutes test flight with both. I think the ASW 20 will have the better performance, but the LS 3 is - especially for me - easier to fly. Maybe that compensates a little bit the performance. Of course in the Series we use the Index, LS 3 has 107, ASW 20 110, but the difference is not so big.

Tonight I will try a first competition flight with the LS 3, then I will see, what I'm able to do with such a plane. Exciting.

The next multiplayer flight will be Thursday 25. August 18:30 UTC. We will use again CW-A. Starting from Oberpfaffenhofen we have 380 km free space over flat land to Vienna, or we can cross the Alps in South-East direction. Everybody is free to take his own way. All are welcome to join us online or offline.
