512, 1024, 2048, 4096, Topo Tiles

Post by ASH33M » Fri Dec 17, 2010 2:41 pm

I'm doing some tests for my video tutorials, I render tiles at 512, 1024, 2048, without any problem, when I render at 4096 then get the black line at the bottom, and yes before you ask all the correct parameters have been selected when using Terragen, this has not happened before, anyone else had the same problems.

Hi ASH33M,
Did you check:

- Camera altitude under 100000 m (=986311.2m)
And
- Camera setting with orthographic notched.

Have checked the above settings and they are within limits, can't think what the problem could be, maybe an application error or bug, not 100% sure, there are no black lines when rendering at 512, 1024, 2048, when rendering at 4096 there is a black line at the bottom only which is 1 pixel in height, when rendering at 8192 the black line is 3 pixels in height.

I ran into this problem when I made British Columbia. I cloned the pixel above the black line. the duplication of the last pixel is not obvious in condor.

Have looked at all 4096 x 4096 tiles that I have ever made, these are all the same where they have a single black line at the bottom of any rendered tile, I have also changed ever possable parameter and nothing changes.

Now trying to work the problem or unless there is a bug or some other issue, can anyone please check all there tiles that have been rendered at 4096 x 4096 or 8192 x 8192.

I will try and make the Topo_Map_Water.tgw file that I'm using.

Hi ASH33M,

All my sceneries, published or not, are 4096x4096 or 8192x8192 pixels for a terragen tile, but with no Sopack or added Textures.

Here under are my settings

And of course, with no black line

Here is a zip file that contains the following files:

0902.jpg - example image

strata.bmp
strata1.bmp

These images are used by the Topo_Map_Water.tgw file

Topo_Map_Water.tgw This file is used by Terragen

Please feel free to test these files, and will be interested in any feedback, before when rendering tile at 4096 x 4096 or 8192 x 8192 did not have a problem before where the single black line appears at the bottom of the rendered image, the jpeg image was changed from windows bitmap to keep the file size down.

Dear ASH33M,

I have always had the same problem, all is fine but for 4096 and above I get the black one pixel line at the bottom.
What I do is use the Image/Trim function on Photoshop, this can remove the black line, then you have to resize the image again to stretch that one pixel... not ideal I know but it beats the hell out of cloning... ;)

Just to add, I have tried all possible options and settings in Teragen with no luck.
