Help Needed for some Vintage Gliders The Slingby Skylark Type 41 2B And Slingsby Type 13 Petrel

Post by Tom » Mon Feb 03, 2025 1:53 pm

Hey Folks,

One is going to be easier than the other, does anyone have access or who can (kindly point me to a contact with someone does)to one of the above to get some decent quality pictures or scans of the Cockpits. AS far as I know only 2 Petrels exist one in the UK the other in the USA.

I plan on doing one of them if not both of them for Condor, brining a more vintage era series. Possibly also the Schleicher Rhönadler the inspiration behind the Petrels Design.

The 2B below is the one i flew in R/L
Many thanks

Wow, that sounds great. I'm sorry not being able to help, but I found that text to a youtube video about a Petrel in Harris Hill 2021, I'm sure, you have already seen that
A flight of the recently restored 1939 Slingsby Petrel glider, piloted by Scott Gifford, at the 2021 International Vintage Sailplane Meet at Harris Hill, New York. With Scott at the controls, he joined the museum's classic Minimoa glider in a big thermal in the first days of the vintage glider meet. The Petrel glider is part of the collection of the Western Antique Aeroplane and Automobile Museum in Hood River, Oregon. https://www.waaamuseum.org https://harrishillsoaring.org. https://www.soaringmuseum.org.
