Does Condor 3 have any substantive changes for primary flight training?

Post by kenz » Sat Feb 01, 2025 6:07 am

Condor 2 is a suitable simulator for the kind of basic flight training which students need to dramatically reduce the time airborne getting their bearings, learning how to work a checklist, developing habits such as verifying airbrakes are properly open, getting in the habit of monitoring the yarn at all times, etc...

Where it was lacking was in basic functionality to reset the plane to a given point. Perhaps there was some workaround in Condor 2, but if so it certainly isn't natural or intuitive.

Does Condor 3 do anything for this? The changelist at https://www.condorsoaring.com/v3whats-new/ doesn't seem to indicate that any development was done to address instructor needs, although certainly the list is incomplete.

There are many requests for this kind of feature in the main thread at https://www.condorsoaring.com/forums/vi ... 29&t=20863, but nowhere I could find where those requests were acknowledged, so perhaps this is not a priority for the devs?

Are there other features added in Condor 3 which would be helpful in bridging the gap between simulator training in MSFS and XPlane vs. Condor?

Condor3 allows to set the airstart at any given point on the map, height above ground between 0 and 1500m/4921ft

Besides that, Condor3 features the possibility to fly two-seaters by two pilots, not necessarily in the same physical location

In single player you also have unlimited resets. You can go back to the start location without having to exit flight first. Even after a crash. Ideal for circuit training or practicing launches.
