Will Condor 2 have to be deleted or will C3 overwrite it?

There are two sub-questions in this one:
If you don't have enough disk space, because you installed many landscapes, you might just buy an extra disk. External USB3 (blue sockets) SSDs are fast enough
If your CPU and graphics board are marginally adequate for Condor 2, you should probably upgrade, but if you have good performance with Condor 2, it should be able to run Condor 3

For a definitive answer on performance you will need to wait.

I can wait for the final answer.

Overall though, based on what you've seen to date, do you think an old Nvidia 1070 with MSAA active be able to run C3 with maxed settings (it runs C2 without dipping below 60fps) or do I start putting a little aside each month for a newer GPU?

Well, OXO gave the answer already.

But it also will depends on the CPU you use and on the amount of pixels your GPU has to push out. NVIDIA cards rely more on the CPU then AMD cards do...

EDB is also correct.

4K monitor or VR headset? That makes a difference

Appreciate that. If I ever go VR I'll need a whole new PC

CPU is good to go still I think. It's an old i5 8600k (6 core) but running @ 5gHZ but chugs away still. System has 32gb of low CAS ram running highest XMP profile possible.

I'm running Condor at 1920x1080 on a single monitor.

GTX 1070 is 13,500 on Passmark benchmark. I think you're safe. I ran a gpu with similar benchmark (RX5600 XT) on a 27" 1440p monitor in C2 without difficulty. I'd strongly recommend you put a little aside for a 1440p monitor, it's wonderful.

After sampling what VR has to offer on my brothers computer my next upgrade (if funds ever allow) will be a PC that can handle VR!

1070 works OK in C2 at my mentioned specs, but word on the street is C3 will be harder on the GPU. If needed I'll source a 2nd hand 2080 or something similar for C3 if needed, to see me through until the big VR upgrade 8)

I did once try Condor VR with Oculus Rift. But had problems with the fact that I wear glasses all the time. I tried the VR both with and without the glasses. Niether were satisfactory for me. Although I know that you can get prescription lenses for VR.

The final decider was experiencing nausea whilst in VR.

I must admit though it was a very immersive experience.

Attention that circling in VR is just as nausea inducing as real life circling, I'm not a R/L pilot, so maybe I have less stomach for it, but thermals and turbolence are quite disturbing in VR, but I guess you can accustom to it.
