Can my player character be a woman?

Post by TEMPEST114 » Sat Feb 18, 2023 8:51 pm

I've only ever seen male avatars.

What options are there to change that?

The animations are part of the model. There is no way to change that.

Several of us would like to see such an option available for Condor 3.

This is what OXO said about it:

We would have to rewrite how we do the animation, and then rebuild all the planes so far.

It's not going to happen.

Rewrite animation?! Just change the texture.

Typical male bias from the developer I see. Just as well I haven’t wasted my money on supporting sexism.

Don't be ridiculous. It's a development resource issue. It would be 1-2 months doing this, for only a few users who would ever use it.

Our resources are small, so we must put them where it benefits the majority.
Just change the texture
We would not do it this way. It would look terrible.

You can try it yourself of course. All the textures are editable.

The lack of a female model has minimal bearing on me. I mean, it would be nice to represent myself in my aircraft more accurately. But, I spend 99.88% of my flight time inside the cockpit where I belong. So it doesn't affect me as much as it may others.

I think the simulator serves the purpose intended quite admirably. Cosmetics are simply icing on the cake.

Just change the texture.
You will find the textures in Condor2/Planes/Textures. Try it, if you like the result you can share it, like lots of others share there modifications / creations on skins, gauges, landscapes a.s.o

Good luck

BTW the idea of only changing the texture isn't new, but I have never heard about a result. Doesn't seem that easy ...

For reference. It takes me about 2 full days to do the animations for a single plane. And I have a full time job next to helping with the Condor planes.

I have had a look at the face of the pilot today. It's a 3D model, looking like a guy. What do you want to change in the texture that he looks like a girl? You can't add hair or change the form of the face only changing the texture. The texture corresponds to the contour.

I've looked at doing this too Peter and came to the same conclusion you did. The body shape would require a few bumps to be added and the face model would need to have some volume added which hair texture could be applied to for things to work half decently. Best I could think of was maybe alter the eyes to look more feminine, apply a shade of lipstick?, try to create a hairstyle that'd work on the existing model (a fringe, and a bit of hair down the neck?). Problem with the hair is it won't have the volume it should. On top of that maybe repaint the glasses a colour more favoured by women as well as the beanie?? I rock a bright yellow VSC beanie on my pilot

I had written out a reply but didn't hit send as the due to the content of the OP's post my tone wasn't probably that acceptable  If only they had taken the time to ask and understand the reasons for not implementing an alternative pilot instead of just being instantly triggered and making crazy accusations of the dev team 'supporting sexism' :x

I get the feeling that if we try to feminize the current pilot model that it would turn out looking more transgender than I do.

LOL
