Performance problems

Post by Graham (GA2) » Fri Feb 10, 2023 6:28 pm

Hi everyone,

I have an (oldish) PC which does not seem to want to run Condor 2 in multi-player mode anymore. It used to work but I have not tried for about a year and now it does not want to run the Tchin-Tchin daily tasks. When I try to connect the PC runs very slowly and takes ages to load up but it usually fails before loading all the scenery or object files and returns to the start menu. Single pilot free flight works but it still takes ages to load and the performance could be better.

Is this a hardware issue, maybe?
If so, what is the most important thing to address?

My machine runs:-
Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-2600 CPU @ 3.40GHz
16.0 GB RAM
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti with 4 GB Ram
B/B speed is around 50-60 Mb/s since I moved house. (Nearer 90 Mb/s in my old house.

Hopefully someone will know what best to address since my budget is limited

Thanks,
Graham

Replace hard drive with SSD.

Tchin-tchin rings a bell
Does this happen with the AA2 landscape ?
If yes, the problem comes from the last patch, loading the hundreds of thousands of power line pylons takes too long on modest configurations
Search this forum for the pylons issue
You will have to replace the object file

Thanks for the suggestions guys.
I loaded the 'new' objects file and I already use a SSD.
The problem seems to be the length of time it takes to 'Initialise Landscape' and the server times-out before it is complete.
Performance is slightly better but I wait to see what it is like when 30 or 40 other players are trying to load as well!!

The reduced objects files will help to resolve that one Graham. Do you have the same issue when trying to join a server with a different landscape?

Try to ensure you have no other apps / programs running when using Condor. I also mark my Condor directories as safe in my anti-virus so the files aren't being scanned any time they are used etc. Unsure if that helps overall but I figure it does no harm.

I am surprised you're seeing such a slow load time as you're using an SSD. It makes me think your PC is attempting to do a few other things at the same time Condor is trying to load.

Hi Graham,
your Pc has enough power.
I have an I5-4590, which is about the same as your processor, and a Gt 1030 with 2GB memory and an HDD storage.
I even play on an 4k Monitor and get 60 frames per second on high settings, so your hardware should not be the problem.
(Ok i overclocked the graphic card a bit, which gives 10% additional power, but nevertheless)
