Buy now or wait for Condor 3?
Hello All,
I use to own Condor 1 long ago but returned here to buy Condor 2 but after reading forum posts it seems that Version 3 is soon to be released. If I buy 2 now, when 3 is released would I need to buy 3 as well or is there a path to upgrade for current users? Is there an ETA on when 3 will be released?
For now I am mainly looking to fly an SGS 1-26 since I am about to start restoring one in the new year.
Thanks and happy new year everyone.
Marc

Re: Buy now or wait for Condor 3?
I just read in other posts that there will be no ETA updates on Condor 3. SO I guess my question is if I buy C2 now and when C3 comes out do I need to rebuy the software as well as all the planes I may have purchased in C2?
Re: Buy now or wait for Condor 3?
Condor 2 plane licenses will continue to be valid in V3

Wow so your saying that I can buy C2 now and then when C3 is released, I wont need to pay any upgrade fee? Also is the only difference between the standard and pro being that Pro has all the aircraft currently released?
Take care,
Marc

The pro version is the standard version with all currently released gliders. The additional gliders are at a significant discount versus buying them one by one. So if you want several of them that may be the cheaper option
When Condor 3 comes out you will have to buy the base simulator again. All previous purchased plane licenses for Condor 2 will unlock the same plane in Condor 3. So you won't have to buy those again.

You'll have to pay for the simulator itself but you'll be able to transfer freely planes that you might buy for condor 2.cloudbaseengineering wrote: ↑Mon Jan 02, 2023 9:57 amWow so your saying that I can buy C2 now and then when C3 is released, I wont need to pay any upgrade fee? Well actually the V3 planes have been remade and enhanced so there’s no transfer. The Condor 2 plane keys will activate the condor 3 planes.

Thanks Chris,
It was late when I sent this question so did not read your reply as closely as I should. I'm gonna buy C2 now and convince a friend as well so we can practice together. I own an SGS 1-26b and curious is there a way to modify the skin so that it reflects my aircrafts paint scheme. Its not a deal breaker, but would be fun to do if possible. I have done it before in other Flight Sims so if the process is similar I could do it. Looking forward to seeing how C2 changed in regards to C1 I had long ago and also looking forward to C3 whenever its ready,
I'm Guessing your in the Loire with France 42. I have family in the GERS and was there for a few months this summer. I tried to go soring in Auch since it was nearby but too many family obligations.
Take care,
Marc

Go to this page:
https://www.condorsoaring.com/downloads-2/
Scroll to the bottom and you will find all the paint templates for the planes. You can use Photoshop or Gimp (this one is free) or something similar to recreate your own glider.
Once you are finished save it as a .dds file with DXT1 compression and place it in Condor2/planes/SGS1-26/skins folder. It should then show up in the dropdown menu when selecting the plane.
If you are satisfied with it you can even upload it to Condor.club so others can download it as well and see you flying around in the digital version of your own plane!

Re: Buy now or wait for Condor 3?
I'm interested to buy Condor to start gliding in VR - I started gliding in real life last year March, solo end of summer.
I do have the other flight simulators, but thats more for general aviation and airline stuff.
I would like to start practicing gliding in Condor, I've read that the best gliding simulator.
But now a year after this main post, the question is the same... Do I buy Condor 2 now or do I wait for 3?
I understand that no release date is given. But it would be great if I buy Condor 2 now and 3 gets released in a couple of months, I get to transfer my license from 2 to 3? Is there maybe such a thing in these last months of development?

Anyone buying Condor 2 since 1 September 23 will get a free upgrade to Condor 3 standard version when it is released.
And all Condor 2 plane licenses will also be valid in Condor 3.

Thats amazing, thank you!!
Re: Buy now or wait for Condor 3?
This is what I believed, and what I've been informing others. Chris (Oxo), your reply earlier comes across as though this isn't now the case. Could you provide some clarity so if I'm asked I pass on the correct information.Bre901 wrote: ↑Tue Jan 02, 2024 11:57 amOXO wrote:If you are considering getting Condor 2 or extra planes now, but have heard that Condor 3 is coming, do not worry.

As posted above my belief is anyone buying C2 now will get a free upgrade to Condor 3 on its release and all purchased glider licenses will transfer across. Please could you tell us if this still stands correct or not.
