A training aid - 'LaunchReleaser'

Post by Goldenhawk77 » Fri Apr 08, 2022 12:33 am

Our club (DSGC) has been pushing forward with the use of Condor - via the club simulator - as a training aid for pilot development. We have a front end application that enables those not familiar with Condor to easily load and fly relevant scenarios.

The 'launch' scenarios include the option of launch failures - at 'any' height or within preselected height ranges.

To allow pilots to practice launch failures on their own installation of Condor, we have also developed a little standalone application that can easily be used on the user's PC.

Others may also find it useful.

All the details are here: https://sites.google.com/view/dsgc-cond ... chreleaser

The site is set up for DSGC pilots - however what's there may be of use to the wider Condorian community.

Cheers,
GHK

Hi,

Looks very cool for randomising the failure within controllable limits (if I've read it correctly).

If it is too technical for some, can I also suggest using (my) website (https://glidingschool.com), where you can download more than 40 additional lessons for use in Condor2 Flight School. These include winch launch failures (Introduction at https://glidingschool.com/winch-launch- ... roduction/ ), which occur at random during the launch. The lessons describe how to deal with them. The demos show how what to do in the full range of scenarios, from very low level failures, upwards. The Try Lesson feature allows the pupil to practise, in the same scenario as the demo. In the case of winch launch failures, the failure is randomised.

The lessons are free and the site is non-commercial. It aims to address the full pre-solo syllabus, to BGA standards. English and Spanish versions are available.
