NMEA to UDP?

Post by zpqrtbnk » Tue Jan 11, 2022 11:51 pm

I feel this must be a FAQ so please feel free to shame me and point me to the answer, which I have not been able to find.

How hard would it be for Condor to support sending NMEA data over UDP along what already flows over UDP?

At the moment, getting NMEA data into anything requires that a COM-to-COM or COM-to-IP additional tool be installed, and these things are a pain to manage due to the required Virtual Serial Port. Writing any standalone application that would process NMEA data is practically impossible without creating such a Virtual Serial Port, which involves Windows drivers, etc. NMEA data on UDP would make things way easier. Event writing a UDP-to-whatever proxy is pure user-level software and way easier.
