Upper Level Wind Speed?

Post by JeffSmith » Sat Sep 04, 2021 5:40 pm

Hi Guys

What height and above, does 'Upper Level' refer to?
Perhaps you could add a height axis in the Waves graphic.

I'm trying to fly right across TransZA but keep running out of clouds at 17:30, so I only get as far as Aggeneys.

Cheers
Jeff

The wind speed varies more or less linearly form the lower level value at the inversion layer level to the upper level value at 5000m.

Thanks for the explanation. I had the upper Level speed at 0km/h. I'll try again with this also set to 20km/h and see if it will give me a push.
I think I'm going to have to use the 18m JS3 to be able to finish at Port Nolloth. This JS3 glider has excellent performance when compared to the LS8-sc Neo which was my favourite. Cheers Jeff
