XCSoar map

Hello everyone,

there are many "XCSoar maps" available. These cards don't mean anything to me.
Question, can these also be used directly in Condor2 or only via an external navigation device.
Is future direct use in Condor2 already in preparation?

Thanks for your information.
Franz Josef

XCSoar maps are intended to be used with XCSoar (on the PC or an external device).

They can't be used in Condor or any other software.

Thanks for the information and the reference to the website.

The topic is new to me, only fly with Condor2. However, it does challenge my curiosity. Let's see how I get here or get ahead.
If there were a few screenshoots of a practical application, I could imagine the topic a bit figuratively. Whether it makes sense for me at all remains to be seen.
Although with some of the maps provided, it is not easy to create a clean flight plan, especially if the flight area is completely new -:-

Thank you for your interest and effort,
Franz Josef

XCSoar (or LK8000) gives more information for cross-country flying than the Condor PDA, and usually RL pilots are familiar with such navigation apps.

However I think the Condor PDA should be enough for a start.

I would strongly recommend reading the manual, especially the flight lessons chapters

For flight plans, some of the default maps provided by the landscape designer are really poor indeed. I would recommend that you get the alternate maps (not the XCSoar maps) that are available on Condor Club in the the goodies section.

My favourite ones are (by far) the ones made by Hubert (the name is generally something like LandscapeName_HB.bmp)
