Hi Paul, regarding hemispheres see viewtopic.php?f=32&t=20402
Being a person who spent many years windsurfing, 20km/h doesn't seem like much wind to me, but I take your point.
We really need a detail Condor explanation of the ideal weather settings for newbies like me.
Thanks for the time you spent with your replies and downloading the Hotazel LS
Having working examples to test is a real advantage. Cheers Jeff

Re: Best approach for racing cross country in flat terrain
I used to sail in my late teens. Crewed on an international 14, owned a Hobie 14 'turbo', Hurricane 5.9 and an A-Class cat over a few years. So I fully understand your thinking there alas just like with sailing the wind will always be against you at some point if you are completing a circular course where you're not just having fun beating up and down across the wind. With the higher performance gliders you'll get away with a little more wind as they punch on through it a little better. As you're goal is quite a marathon flight I'd be giving yourself good odds at least, it's a long time to be flying.

Well done Jeff, and in the LS8 as well Congrats. Certainly must have been a perfect day for soaring!
You might be able to squeeze 1250km out of the LS8 maybe?

Thanks, I think I'll wait awhile before trying another long distance.
I'm sure someone who really knows how to fly will do a lot more than 1250km as I only had 70kg ballast on board.
Call me chicken - LOL
My most stressful flight to date was this one, but the points made it worth the effort.
