Task with no PDA turnpoint photo restrictions.

Post by mhs » Sun Jan 31, 2021 3:33 pm

I am running a task on SG38 but Condor will not accept what looks like a valid turn point
photograph. I have flown quit a few of these tasks in the past without any problem on the
turn point photographs but now have a huge collection of this turn point. The start gate
has not yet closed, is this a restriction on acceptance of the first turn point photograph?
The start task message confirms the task was started.

After 15 minuets attempting the turn point Condor suddenly accepted a photo,
there was just under 3 minuets left on the start gate. I have no idea why the
photo was more acceptable than the previous 20.

Think that I may have found the problem with this turn point. I suspect
that the photo validity is computed from the geometry of the picture
rather than the image of the turn point base and wing. For some unexplained
reason the turn point base is declared at 0ft rather than top of ridge which requires
a much steeper bank to cover the declared base rather than the visible base.

The task that I was attempting is a shortened version of "Sallanches to Challes for Student pilots" for school
class gliders, The Condor.club version has a misconfiguration of the start, first and third turn points with the
TPPosZ height declared as 0 instead of the TP height on top of the ridge, running this or any
derived tasks without a PDA results in the photograph failing unless the glider is positioned
close to the turn point and banked over to include the declared TP base which is around 7000ft
lower than the visible base. If the photograph is attempted just inside the TP to get a good
angle on the visual TP pole base it is east to miss the declared TP base position.

I can confirm that fixing the TPPosZ values results in the expected turn-point photograph
behaviour.
This post should under the Condor Club index as it has turned out to be a flight plan error
but I am not aware of any way to move it other than delete and retype.

Condor Club doesn't modify FPL TP data. It's better to contact the author of the FPL to fix this issue then upload a new version.
If the original FPL was not edited manually by the author, it means there was a bug in Condor when the FPL was created. So if it's still in the latest version of Condor, the FPL will have to be corrected manually.
