New CondorUTill webpage

Post by Bre901 » Sat Jan 09, 2021 4:32 pm

My utilities webpage was getting a bit cluttered, I'm trying to simplify it.

The mock-up of the new version is here: https://www.marc-till.com/CondorUTill/index_V2.html.

Links only exist for the first two utilities, and there is no return link for the time being.

Your comments and suggestions are welcome, thanks in advance.

Hello Marc!

New is modern but old was maybe good enough! ;) Hard to choose. ;)
Personally I'd bet for the old one solution (all tools on one page with version infos etc). - IMHO it was easier to download/check readme of what u need (+ there was detailed descriptions, easy to check).

My small petition - please add link to your great tools in your signature. :)

Rgrds!

I like the old one better, however, I guess I could live with the new one. The old one has more detail, which means I would not have to drill deeper; so, it is more efficient.

Thanks for your good work!

As about equal numbers of people preferred the old and new versions, I have tried to make a compromise by adding more information to the new version, yet still trying to keep it compact.
Detailed information can be found following the "More..." link.

Most parts are now functional, but it still requires some polishing.
No French version of the main page for the time being.
The contact page is only available in French.

New CondorUTill webpage

Post by Bre901 » Sat Jan 23, 2021 8:41 pm

I have finalised the new webpage, it is on the new server now:

https://condorutill.fr/

I have tried to test most links, but I would appreciate if someone could take a look, thanks in advance.

Es gibt jetzt auch eine deutsche Seite, ein Korrekturlesen wäre sehr erwünscht, vielen Dank im Voraus

In order to manage languages and version numbers, the main page is now generated automatically from a text file, which means that adding languages would be rather easy (Unicode languages would require some more development). Contact me by PM if you are interested.

The old webpage is still active, it will close in a few days

The german site is good enough, every german will understand it. If you really want to have it corrected, I can send you some sentences, but I think it's not neccessary

As the translation was made using deepl.com (a German company) and as I do speak some German, I had little doubt about that

I'm a bit of a perfectionist, so I would appreciate that.
Danke schön ! (or should that rather be tusen takk ?)

There is not so much to do better. In the list you see first your text and then the maybe better one.

Danke schön is good, tusen takk only if I should write it in norwegian, but you will ask better one who is born here ;-)

EDIT:

Deleted the old an new sentences, because I saw that you have used them now. Must not be documented here forever ...

OVH Strasbourg fire update:

Fortunately, https://condorutill.fr is hosted somewhere else
However, OVH mail servers are compromised:
- sending me a message from the webpage doesn't work
- the support mail address that is in the manuals and READMEs no longer receives messages
