Is it possible (preferably from someone close to the development of the sim) to get a more in depth explanation of the weather settings than the manual goes into?
It would be really helpful for more accurately setting up realistic tasks with a bit more predictability, as there is always a bit of trial and error involved.
Some questions that spring to mind - for example:
- How does the date/time setting affect the weather setup, if at all?
- What are the min/max strengths of thermals (or vertical velocity of the air mass) on each of the strength settings?
- How wide are the thermals on different settings?
- How much variation do the variation toggles set, if you have moderate thermals and high variation - what percentage are moderate, how many are weak, how many are strong?
- Can strong thermals break through the inversion?
- How far apart on average are thermals under different settings (i've seen mention that this changes depending on strength).
- Does the overcast do anything or is it purely cosmetic?
Probably some other questions too, but these would be helpful starting points.
