Idea for condor and the community
Idea for condor and the community
Hi,
I had an Idea about a list in the forum where the next gliders and changes like a new weather modelling or etc. are entered like a development roadmap.
The Condor community can then see what comes next or what is being worked on.
A "release date" can be omitted to avoid unnecessary pressure on the developers, because a good product takes time.
I think the community will like that because they won't always ask what will be released next or if a plane they like is being modeled.
regards, Tbi.

This would be awesome! I really like this idea.

Re: Idea for condor and the community
I got to about page 7 and then lost interest. Sounds like any other community showing eagerness (spilling into frustration) to find out more about their favourite development project.
Understanding that Team Condor are a small group who I assume are not doing this for a primary job, I can completely understand why they wouldn't want to share anything that might create unwanted hype or expectations on themselves. I also do 'spare time' stuff and yes - it gets done when it gets done.
A simple list of aircraft under development might be a nice idea - people will be waiting for their favourites, and it also might persuade some of the modellers to start work on something new that hasn't been covered elsewhere.
A list of features would be much more contentious. Some things might seem like good ideas, and then turn out to be more difficult or even impossible to implement in reality so that road leads to upset and anguish. That said, it would be sort of nice to get a very rough idea of what the future /could/ look like even if things don't pan out. Although for me personally, the list could start and end with a more dynamic weather system, anything else is just 'nice' but dealing with changeable soaring conditions is basically gliding - especially in the North of England!

Re: Idea for condor and the community
I wonder whether a community trello board would be a good way to show this information?
I gave it a try: https://trello.com/b/V5U70g6B/condor-gliders
Could add screenshots and forum links to the cards maybe....

Re: Idea for condor and the community
If this is intended to be serious youhave to add these gliders to your list and have to keep it current:I gave it a try: https://trello.com/b/V5U70g6B/condor-gliders
I saw, you already have a category for them. (3D Models Seen)Arcus: viewtopic.php?f=39&t=17946&start=225#p167100

Re: Idea for condor and the community
I was sort of hoping that a public trello board would be able to be modified by anyone who is logged in.
I'll update what I know though.

Re: Idea for condor and the community
If I've read the forums correctly recently the DG303 is next released and after that the Arcus
After those two I've no idea....
After those two I've no idea....
2018 - Silver Badge complete - Forgot I could claim for the 100km diploma flying an out and return
2019 - Get up to speed and aim for a 300km task?! maybe.....
Re: Idea for condor and the community
Exactly much more realistic - probably based on real/historic weather data weather model is the only thing I miss in v2.
I appreciate all the tech upgrades that v2 gave us but on the non-mountain weather front (pun intended) sadly not much have changed.
Large evolving stratus clouds that shadow and thus kill thermals on large areas, moving fronts, realistic large streeting clouds, local rains, evolution of cumulonimbuses, "crisis" hours - sadly without many weather phenomena current weather feels a little bit too "arcadey".
I read somewhere and totally agree that "gliding is a sport for meteorologists" - sadly I don't have it in Condor yet.
I know it is complicated stuff to do and I'd be eager to pay for such additional advanced weather model - more than on yet another glider model.
