For that, you just change the file type from .tdm to .raw (on a copy file of course), and you open it with photoshop (same size as your map, 1 channel, 8 bits/pixels, 8 bits header), then you rotate it by 180°.

I did that, and the resulting image has the landscape shown three times, arranged horizontally? I assume each to be the RGB channels?

There is no RGB channel, with these settings you get a greyscale 8 bits/pixel image... You must have done something wrong!

Can Raw be vied without expensive photoshop? Is there a free software that could be used?

I tried GIMP but I can't open the renamed RAW file.... short tutorial of how to do it would be greatly appreciated

You may need a plugin for raw files. I'm sure there will be one available.

I have already tried darktable plugin, but still no luck. After dragging RAW file to Darktable I don't get to see the actual image of the thermal amp.
