Prop strike bug
Prop strike bug
With the new patch, I am not able to start the engine on the ground with the EB29 without it "prop striking"
See video here: https://youtu.be/Lq-swNR2-C4
Edit: does the same with the DG808

Re: Prop strike bug
Hi Team, same with me -propstrike by selfstart- great S12, but climbrate seems to low (2-2.5) supposed to be 4 i think.
Thanks for work

Re: Prop strike bug
This happens only when self-launching, the workaround is to extract and start the engine on tow, when a few meters above groundG-ROB wrote: ↑Tue Oct 13, 2020 10:47 amWith the new patch, I am not able to start the engine on the ground with the EB29 without it "prop striking"

This makes other motorized gliders unusable
Dg808
EB29
and the ASG19 with some luck

Re: Prop strike bug
this happens because they forgot to put this if() statement in the code :Bre901 wrote: ↑Tue Oct 13, 2020 11:45 amThis happens only when self-launching, the workaround is to extract and start the engine on tow, when a few meters above groundG-ROB wrote: ↑Tue Oct 13, 2020 10:47 amWith the new patch, I am not able to start the engine on the ground with the EB29 without it "prop striking"

Code: Select all
if (aircraft_type==STEMME_S12)
allowpropstrike();
I will upgrade to 2.15 that will be released today or tomorrow as this is a super urgent patch, that invalidated payed airplanes.

Re: Prop strike bug
Not really.. we have a small number of testers and can't catch everything.
2.1.5 will not be tomorrow, we will wait a week or so.

Re: Prop strike bug
Same problem here on DG808 and EB29...
But the S12 is super fun!!

As some users apparently do not read the latest posts, I'm moving this thread up
Workaround (already posted above):
Take off behind the towplane, extract the engine during the roll (not before), start the engine when a few meters (or feet) above ground

Re: Prop strike bug
Hi there,
I don't know if it is related but yesterday I did my first flight online with the Stemme, it was a winch start.
I tried three times and each time I spawned on the field with my engine out and running at full power.
Could not get the winch to start (obviously) but managed self launch.
I don't think it is supposed to do that.

It is supposed to do precisely that.MrHerisson wrote: ↑Mon Oct 26, 2020 11:00 amHi there,

The Stemme does only self-starts.
The nose cone opens and the engine starts at full throttle (whatever the position of the axis connected, if applicable) as soon as you are the first one in the take-off line.
Reminder : For self-launching sailplanes (once the propstrike bug is corrected, obviously) , if you have extracted the engine before reaching the starting position, the winch or towplane won't start, the engine will start at full throttle as soon as you are the first one in the take-off line.
BTW : this question obviously concerns the Stemme, why didn't you ask it in the relevant thread ?
I'll post my answer there too.

Re: Prop strike bug
The stemme doesn't have a winch or tow hook, nor is it certified to use those two methods. That is why that happens.MrHerisson wrote: ↑Mon Oct 26, 2020 11:00 amHi there,

Re: Prop strike bug
I didn't know that....I'll have to pay more attention to the release altitude now
