Hi,
I flew a short task. In the flight-analysis I can see, that I flew into the start-sector ca. 12:01. I left the sector ca. 12:08.
The flight info says:
TaskStart: 12:00:59
Flying into the startsector the color changed from red to green
Leaving the startsector I got the message "task startet" (I don't remember the exact words)
I thougt the task begins leaving the start sector, not approaching it. What is correct?
Thanks for answer
When does a task start?

Re: When does a task start?
Only if the start window is open, the task starts when leaving the sector.
What you describe sounds like a regatta start (start window 0). The start window opens as soon as the "race in ..." timer has ended and the racetime for everybody starts running from that point. You still have to make a valid start, (turning the start sector green) to get the race distance counting.

Re: When does a task start?
Hi,
thank you for your answer.
Yes, start window was 0 and race in 1. So time was telling nearly directly after releasing the winch.
Now I understand, why flight-analysis shows a low averagespeed, especially if I'm looking very long time for the first good lift. It's logical ...
Here is a lot to learn, but it's fantastic !

Re: When does a task start?
One other small tip on task starts and turnpoints. I had ignored the "Turnpoint helper" checkbox on the NOTAM badge in the flight planner.
I think you'll find it very useful. It not only puts up a big pole for each turnpoint, but also shades the airspace around you when you are inside the radius. Really makes it clear when you enter and leave. Activated with the 'J' key (which in the iNPUT setup is called 'Task Helper').

Re: When does a task start?
Hi,
thanks for that hint. I like in my tasks the "free world", no penalty zones, no penalties for cloud flying, but otherwise so realistic as possible.
No helpers and no recovery, because this is not in real life too. I think the pda is the best helper and like real life. In my active time there was no pda. I think I can say that I was good in flying lifts, but I was so bad in navigation, maybe I was to young. I never finished a triangle, and I never was there where I thought I had to be . Now with the pda it is so easy, in Condor I have full control over the navigation.
So, I will not use any helpers. In the beginning I used the thermal helper for to find out where the lifts are in Condor, but not longer.
