EB 29 groundloop
EB 29 groundloop
Hi
I cannot keep the EB 29 straight on takeoff with aerotow in any sort of crosswind. Is there a trick/technique I should apply?

Re: EB 29 groundloop
Other than usual rudder inputs try keeping the stick back to keep the tail wheel on the ground until almost at flying speed.
Re: EB 29 groundloop
Keep the wings level. It is easier to do if you use full negative flaps for the initial part of the ground roll. Cross wind limit according to the manual for takeoff and landing is around 15 kph for most gliders!

However, there is a bug in the EB29. The wings often tip from one side to another back and forth, sometimes like crazy even. In fact that makes it almost impossible to take of some times. For example, it the runway isn't 100% even. So there is probably some problem with the ground handling physics or something like that.

Problem with the scenery usually. The airport needs a G object to have a smooth surface. Some scenery creators don't include this.SAN-Soarer wrote: ↑Tue Jun 30, 2020 2:32 pmHowever, there is a bug in the EB29. Re: EB 29 groundloop
If the runway is long enough and the towplane is strong enough, you can also keep the airbrakes partially extended until you gain some controls efficiency (retract them before you set the flaps to sightly positive)

Re: EB 29 groundloop
I’m interested in the theory behind partially open speed brakes during initial takeoff roll. I know it’s sometimes necessary to hold the wheel brake at the beginning of a launch and for some gliders that means full air brake but I don’t understand how partial air brakes helps early aileron authority.

Re: EB 29 groundloop
Deflects the air outwards to give more aileron authority
