CoTASA V3.0 is available for downloads from the web page : https://condorutill.fr/

Many thanks to the beta-testers (once again way too few  )

Following the release of Hangar Update 23, I have updated the glider data for CoTASA, they are available for download
http://condorutill.fr/
No need to update CoTASA
Search for "Glider data" below the CoTASA icon, download the file and unzip it in the Settings folder

Flaps speeds for the LS3a have been computed with the wrong wing loading.
This has been fixed. You can either download the corrected file from the webpage or edit the Settings\CoTASA_data.txt file and replace the LS3a line with :

Code: Select all

LS3a=270,150,323,472,40,+20,85,+10,91,+5,115,0,151,-7
Sorry for the inconvenience

Hello there,
Above all, thanks for this nice piece of software, well thought and better implemented.
Then, I'm a total newbie about Condor 2, and investigating decided to try CoTASA V3.0, which is already installed and working just fine, but with only one minor problem, I cannot set Artificial Horizon in Standard mode >> <AH standard=1>, as shown bellow (from my latest config file CoTASA_00015.ini)
######################################################################
# ARTIFICIAL HORIZON
# window size (0 = no)
AH size=150

#Artificial horizon "standard" mode: 0=simplified, default ; 1=standard
AH Standard=1

# opacity ( [0-100] - 0=transparent, 100 =opaque )
AH opacity=100
# transparent corners [0/1] (default=1)
AH transparent corners=0

# Horizontal position : L(eft) C(enter) R(ight) or pixel value (Left=0)
AH hor. position=1768

# Vertical position : T(op) C(enter) B(ottom) or pixel value (Top=0)
AH ver. position=436
# Font size (-1=auto ; 0=same as text, default ; >0 actual value)
AH Font size=0

######################################################################
Fresh install of Windows 10 Pro, with Condor 2 running fine, a browser and not much else.
I'm expecting to see the "Compass Standard AH" image, but I keep getting the "North Up Simplified AH" one, both included in the DISPLAY section big image of the User Manual.
Thanks in advance for any help or comments.
Regards,
HUGO

The AH shown in your message is the "standard" one, which is in accordance with the AH Standard=1 setting in your ini file.

How to tell which is which ?

In the "simplified" version (shown here with "Compass" mode ), the outer ring with the bank graduation (grey background) is fixed and the index turns together with the horizon line (which puzzled some RL pilots)
simplified.png

... whereas in the "standard" one (which is somehow simplified if you compare it to the one in the DuoDiscus which is more realistic), the outer ring (sky blue background) turns and the index is fixed.

The North-Up/Compass setting is a bit lower in the .ini file :
# Compass mode: 0=compass, 1=North Up
North Up=1

Hello Bre901,

I believe you are the one to thanks for the creation of CoTASA, and the time and effort invested in improving and maintaining it. So thanks so much again.
I apologize for my limited understanding of the tool, as well as the whole world of gliding in general. I'm learning slowly one step at a time.
Moreover, thank you very much for your prompt response to my inquire, and the detailed explanation.
I misunderstood the fact that the "North Up / Compass" mode, is independent from the AH mode "standard / simplified". Consequently, both of these modes have their respective settings. Obviously, I didn't get the difference between standard / simplified before reading your answer, even though it's perfectly explained in the User Guide, as I noticed re-reading that topic. Sorry about that.
Thanks once more for your contribution, patience and time helping newbies like myself.
Best regards,
HUGO

I have enjoyed Cotasa for a nice few years.
Since a few weeks however I finally updated to the 3.0 version.

After a few good flights, I got a condor freeze and crash without log file - after 30 minutes in a competition flight in AA2 scenery (Condor version 2.18)

Yesterday condor crashed within seconds every time I entered the competition server on Netherlands landscape. (Condor version 2.19)

I disabled Cotasa, and had a good flight.

In non-online flight, all worked fine with Cotasa...

Ideas welcome.

Tim

No idea whatsoever. I'm puzzled as CoTASA interacts only marginally with Condor, just reading the UDP stream.

Were you performing anything when the crash happened ?
Have you checked the Condor logs each time ?

The main difference between CoTASA V3.0 and the previous versions is the dialog box, besides that it's almost the same stuff under the hood.

I you can live without the dialog box (i.e. if you can edit the .ini file) I would recommend that you revert to V2.3 (available there : https://condorutill.fr/CoTASA.html)

Probably the 2 crashes were not linked to each other.
The first one "just" a hickup.
The second one - as many other have experienced - fixed hopefully with patch 2.2.0

I have another quest towards starting the timers on a qwerty keyboard - cannot get them to work.
I remember my previous version Cotasa started the task timer by itself, in the last version not anymore.

Cheers,
Tim

Mmm, tested again today in Marburg competition - with Cotasa on, Condor crashed after minutes or so.
No log, since I re-joined the comp without Cotasa - no issues...
Could it have something to do with my messed-up folder structure with One-drive removed ?

Tired of onedrive, reinstalled Win 11, Condor, and all the rest.
No more crash in the last comp flight with Cotasa on.

COTASA wired ASW20 settings, horizon, etc

hi today i noticed, that the flap-speeds are wired with the ASW20.

with full ballast flap1 should be (aprox) above 130km/h (110:2 90:3 <80:4)

but in the setting it is ASW20=280,150,340,525,60,L,96,4,97,3,133,2,162,1

other planes are like always

strange- what i #m missing

The flap rings in C2 are fixed in position i.e., they don't change with ballast, and are set at minimum wing loading on club class gliders like the ASW20 and LS3. On other gliders they are set to the maximum wing loading position.

I guess you got these values from the flapring on the ASW20 ASI
However, as the ASW20 is in club class, the flaps speeds on the ASI are at min W/L and not full ballast
This has already been discussed a few times in the forum, esp. in this very thread, 3 1/2 years ago :

Edit: @Rotareneg, I spent too much time searching old posts, you beat me to it
