I'm rather disappointed to see so few answers, however some people were interested on an another forum.

Anyway, I have started working on V4.

As Condor V3 has been announced, I think that keeping support for V1 in CoTaCo is utterly useless.

If you disagree, speak now or forever hold your peace.

Hello Marc!

Maybe the problem is - your tools are just very good and working as should - that's why not many answers. :)
As for dropping C1 support, sure - C1 users can still use CoTaCo 3.4.1. (Please do not remove it from repository.)

Will V4 GUI be frontend for command line tool? Smthng like config tool?
(Would be good as it means less click + our settings are mostly same every time: PDA + aat or race).
No matter where you go... There you are...

The "Auto" mode will remain, with only the AAT duration to define, if needed (until, some day, Condor hopefully supports AAT)

The form shown will be used for standard "manual" conversion, with most fields predefined from the settings in the .ini file
A specific setup form could be possible for data not defined here, but I'm not sure if it's that useful as most options in the .ini file are not changed that often.

Only for LK8000 users:

We have another issue with LK8000: the "default" task type does not allow for different TP angles and sizes.
CoTaCo will now write the task type as "Race"

Besides that, search for airports properties has been fixed (altitudes are not used anymore as they are unreliable in .apt files)
If a TP is used more than once it is written only once in the <waypoints> section

Version 3.4.4 is available for beta-tests : https://drive.google.com/file/d/1m5Zrto ... sp=sharing

PLEASE NOTE:

I had very little feedback for beta versions recently.
They will no longer be freely available, you will have to request access for downloading.
They will have a limited life span (about 1 month)

If someone does not return any feedback (which may be as short as: "App XXX works fine"), he will not be allowed to download beta versions anymore.

Hello Bre901,

I have tested version 3.4.4 with AAT, "Normal Tasks", and one where the turn points were of a different diameters but wasn't an AAT task.

All worked perfectly. I note the very sensible update to AAT tasks so they don't default to AUTO advancement. I have found accidental AUTO advancement caused me a great deal of confusion in some races ;-)

Thanks for yet another fine update to CoTaCo!

Cheers

I note that the new updates to CoTaCo for LK8000 makes each race a "Regatta" start - as expected as they are "forced" to Grand Prix to solve other LK8000 related issues.

I'm not sure if Condor Flight Plans differentiate between normal Races and Grand Prix starts? Is it possible to to make LK8000 task "Regatta" only if they are really Grand Prix starts. It's not vital - just a thought...

The way to differentiate between Race and Grand Prix in Condor is the "Time window" value in the flight planner (StartTimeWindow in the .fpl file). If it's 0 we have a regatta start (just like in the GP) otherwise it's a regular race.

Having said that, I fail to see your point : how is LK8000's behaviour changed when there is a regatta start ? Could you be more explicit, please

I'm getting a bit tired of all these LK8000 idiosyncrasies. Recently I have spend more time trying to work around the LK8000 "features" than developing useful stuff or fixing my own bugs in CoTaCo V3

Hi Bre901,

I may well be wrong, but I was under the impression that a "Regatta Start" (Grand Prix) meant the race started for all competitors the moment the Start Gate opened, compared to a "Race', where there is a period of time in which a pilot can start racing.

If my hypothesis is correct, flagging a Task as type one or the other is quite critical to the method of starting for the pilot. However, it makes no difference to LK8000 itself as such. It is more of a prompt and convenience to the start type of a race for the pilot, rather than anything to do directly with LK8000.

Cheers
John

Then why change the way it works now ?
Lifting the "same radius and angle for all turnpoints" constraint is more important IMHO

The radius issue is far more important.

I was seeking perfection in what I was imagining would be a couple of extra lines of code. However, it may be much more complicated than that.

COTACO is such a wonderful utility. It and CoTasa make Condor so more convenient to use....

Cheers John (sorry if there are some typos. I had my second cataract operation this morning, so my sight is still somewhat impeded) 😎

Back to V4

The integration of the GUI is well underway.

During tests, I have started wondering whether the tick-boxes highlighted in the pic below really belong in that form as these options wouldn't be changed very often, if ever at all.

On the other hand, maybe the airspace file name (penalty zones) should be changeable interactively ?

Your comments or suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated, better now than when the final version is released

Hi Bre901. I have been chatting to a number of Condor 2 users during races on Discord in recent weeks.

I frequently sing the praises of your utilities, particularly CoTaCo and Co TASA. While I had no trouble setting them up, quite a number of potential users have mentioned that they tried to set them up, but had difficulties and sort of gave up.

Therefore I would suggest that your thoughts on having a settings dialogue would be very helpful to many users. Perhaps a fairly basic one for normal use, but with a "Preferences" menu option available for the fine tuning..

Cheers John in Sunny Carnarvon - Western Australia
