CoTaCo (V4.2.2): Task converter for XCSoar, LK8000 & SeeYou
Re: CoTaCo (V3.4): Task converter for XCSoar, LK8000 & SeeYou
It seems to me that the conversion works ok.
I sent my ini file.

Re: CoTaCo (V3.4): Task converter for XCSoar, LK8000 & SeeYou
There is indeed a (minor) bug that happens only when Task warnings=0 and produces garbled printouts in the command window (more rarely a crash that prevents the final message from being displayed) but the conversion and transfer are OK.
The bug is fixed, the new executable (V3.4.0.2) is available on the webpage
If you have installed V34 and always use task warnings, re-installing is not indispensable

Re: CoTaCo (V3.3): Yet another task converter for XCSoar
I had assumed (almost one year ago) that no answers meant no bugs, but I guess it was actually no testsBre901 wrote: ↑Tue Jan 26, 2021 2:29 pmIt's been more than two months that version 3.3 is available as a beta and I haven't heard of any bug
... let's just hope it was because there were none to be found and not not because no-one tested it
Whatever, as I didn't find any either, version 3.3 is now officially released.
It is available only on the new webpage : https://condorutill.fr/#CoTaCo
A user has reported recently that the sector angles were incorrectly written in the .cup file.
I have corrected that issue and I also checked and corrected the Condor-window-type turnpoints for cup files
Version 3.4.1 is available on the webpage

I still use v2.1...
I see I have a note to install v.3.1

Re: CoTaCo (V3.4.1): Task converter for XCSoar, LK8000 & SeeYou
I may have discovered a bug, although the fault lies more with LK8000, which has a few quirks as far as programming logic goes at times as Bre901 has found on a few occasions.
I have been asking on the LK8000 forum about FINISHING HEIGHT, as it seems that the FINISHING HEIGHT is always height AGL and NOT MSL - regardless of setting MSL or AGL in the START HEIGHT REF in LK8000. As yet, I haven't had a reply. See https://www.postfrontal.com/forum/topic ... IC_ID=9262
Perhaps the next version of CoTaCo could/should always default to AGL for FINISHING HEIGHT. In the mean time, I am manually changing it to the correct finishing height AGL.
Another small issue is that the the Start max altitude and Finish min Altitude in the CoTaCo dialogue box is slightly different from the (correct) heights in the created LK8000 task.
In an example, as per the attached flight plan, the LK8000 task created by CoTaCo correctly reports the start altitude as 5200ft, whereas the CoTaCo dialogue box says 5146ft. The Finish min height in LK8000 is (correct) 3199ft, whereas the CoTaCo dialogue box says 3166ft. I admit the difference is small, but I have missed a few start/finish lines because I used the dialogue box numbers....

Re: CoTaCo (V3.4.1): Task converter for XCSoar, LK8000 & SeeYou
You are right, I checked the source code, and I did find a typo in the conversion factor: 1ft = 0.308m instead of 0.3048m
Sorry about that
... however, this shows once again that there haven't been that many tests performed while it was in beta
The fix was quite easy, version 3.4.2 is available here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1tPzfgf ... sp=sharing
I'll release it after I get some feedback from users
For AGL/MSL issues in LK8000, I'd rather wait until you get some "official" answer ...
Happy new year !

Re: CoTaCo (V3.4.1): Task converter for XCSoar, LK8000 & SeeYou
Hi Bre901. That works very nicely, thank you.
I have posted another request for clarification on the LK8000 forum re FINISH heights not being affected by the AGL or MSL setting for start heights. My experimentation certainly confirms that is the case. I'll let you know when/if I get a response.
One small thing I noticed with the Flight Plan I attached yesterday was that I got an error message about some AAT areas not being circular, which didn't to fit with the Condor Flight Plan, where everything was circular, including the start and finish lines.....
Have fun
John

Re: CoTaCo (V3.4.1): Task converter for XCSoar, LK8000 & SeeYou
I have tested that here, strangely it happens only if the target software is LK8000, it works fine for XCSoar, more to come ...JBlyth wrote: ↑Sun Jan 02, 2022 8:38 amOne small thing I noticed with the Flight Plan I attached yesterday was that I got an error message about some AAT areas not being circular, which didn't to fit with the Condor Flight Plan, where everything was circular, including the start and finish lines.....

Re: CoTaCo (V3.4.1): Task converter for XCSoar, LK8000 & SeeYou
The counting of 360° sectors was done in the function that writes the .tsk file, hence no chance that the correct number could be found when writing .lkt or .cup filesBre901 wrote: ↑Sun Jan 02, 2022 5:08 pmI have tested that here, strangely it happens only if the target software is LK8000, it works fine for XCSoar, more to come ...JBlyth wrote: ↑Sun Jan 02, 2022 8:38 amOne small thing I noticed with the Flight Plan I attached yesterday was that I got an error message about some AAT areas not being circular, which didn't to fit with the Condor Flight Plan, where everything was circular, including the start and finish lines.....
I have moved that part to the main program, so that it will be always activated, even if some other day some user asks for some new task file format ...
Besides that:
I won't comment that over there...On the LK8000 forum, brunotl wrote:i confirm : FINISH minimum height is always AGL ...
The code has been changed accordingly, with height-ref="AGL" although it is utterly useless

Re: CoTaCo (V3.4.1): Task converter for XCSoar, LK8000 & SeeYou
I'm getting a virus warn on this Google Drive file too, Bre901.
Does the AGL height update only apply to the FINISH height, so if MSL is used for the START that height is set in MSL for the START, but ALL FINNISH heights are treated as AGL for LK8000 regardless of the START height flag?
Thanks yet again for all you hard work!
John

Yes, I changed only the FINISH part, START uses "MSL" ("ASL" actually, but I won't comment that again )

That last cleanup session I mentioned in the CoTASA thread was indeed too aggressive, sorry about that. The file is back

Re: CoTaCo (V3.4.1): Task converter for XCSoar, LK8000 & SeeYou
I have resumed work on version 4. The GUI would support XCSoar, LK8000 and SeeYou (selection with radio buttons)
Path to default folders for each target app would be defined at installation and saved in the .ini file.
Comments are more than welcome (I would also be interested to know if you just don't care)

I think it is a very worthwhile development.
