It was faster for me. I took off, climbed to 900 m with my first lift, understood that it was useless to fly this task and finally decided to land on the airfield.

Many congrats for the 12 finishers !!

I was actually in the mood for a "die hard" task, but after 30min i had to leave my Ventus in the river and swim for shore.

Hi all

More realistic IMO than 200+ kmh ridge burning - but I agree maybe a little too realistic last night.

2.5 kt thermals with high performance gliders and a mediocre wind wouldn't normally be an issue but more terrain clearance would have been nice!

Tension was compounded further for me knowing that .ftr had to be submitted by 0030 UTC and that the final glide was tight on both altitude and time.

In the end submitted immediately after completion with 4 minutes to spare :?

Congrats to those that stuck it out - very satisfying if not more than a little frustrating.

Well done to Janos; those 18 secs and 2.45 penalty points cost me a second very surprising top ten place.

Thanks to the organisers their efforts are greatly appreciated, but I'd already decided that their classifications are actually:
Easy = Moderate
Moderate = Difficult or worse and
Difficult = very nearly impossible.

Keep up the good work.

Well done on getting round Steve. I was in a gaggle along the NW side of Loch Ness and we all landed out :lol:

To be honest it was a bit of a relief as I had to be up early this morning and I could see that one taking forever.

Enjoyed the task last night, took it steady, stayed high and pleasantly surprised by my result.

very nice day 33 task !

After take off I understood that I did not have to expect anything from clouds, so I went east to the ridge to climb and determine the altitude requested to cross safely the valley after turning tp1. I made a very good start and managed to climb immediatly on the edge of the ridge so I could fly quite fast without loosing altitude. Then on second leg I chose to keep north of track, always on the top of the ridge and not to fly to agressive. The bigest issue then was to find the good pass before the lake on half leg to keep a good way close to track and continue to fly fast. I turned tp2 quite high and find the good pass to finish and it was done.
I like when everything goes as planned.
I did not fly so agressive so I was expecting faster pilots, but I am very happy with the result :D

I'm very sad! :(
It was a stupid condor-mistake. :(

I've seen your race, and we were in the goal together! You have completed the 35th task on the 4th place with 2:12:46... Excellent job! Congratulation!

We were having an intressting discussion last night about speeds for various flap settings before start on server H. Someone suggested an appropriate setting for laser speed. I can confirm that attempts to reach laser speed result in the wings detaching from the glider making the flap setting somewhat irrelelvant :lol:

Unlucky Tony

But I'm sure you'll find they were flapping beautifully even though ineffectually! :-)
