[SBC2013] SkyBattle Cup 2013 - Main thread

Post by RaiderOne » Wed Oct 17, 2012 8:18 pm

  OK ... here we are ... The SkyBattle CUP 2013 will finally take place as last year !!!

Here are some details before the publication of the official announcement :

- It is still a Free Competition, so you will soon be able to register for free on the Condor-Club site  HERE
- But we do accept donations to help us to rent the Condor Servers, Teamspeak Servers and so on ... ! If you wish to make a donation for this competition, please feel free to read this post  HERE and use the "PayPal Button" visible in the first post.

- We will have 35 Races : every Thursday's & Sunday's evenings from mid-November to end of March with a break during end of year holidays.
- The 20 best results of each pilot will count for the final ranking calculation (so if you miss a few races, it's not that bad for your ranking)

- Used gliders : all Condor Gliders of the following Classes : 15m., 18m., Open & Standard ! With one only class available for each race.
- Mainly classical tasks with PDA & standard starts will be flown, but however some AAT and some regatta starts could be planned (not so many anyway) !

Planned Schedule :

- On Race Days, 10 to 15 Condor Servers will welcome you from 20H30 Paris Time (19h30UTC) to the end of "JoinTime" at 21H00 (20h00UTC)
- One Training Race : Sunday Nov 11th 2012 (Day00)
- First Official Race : Thursday Nov 15th 2012 (Day01)
- End of Year Holidays : 3 evenings without race (Sun 23/12, Thu 27/12 et Sun 30/12)
- First RaceDay after the holiday's break : Thursday Jan 3rd 2013 (Day12)
- Last RaceDay : Sunday Mar 24th 2013 (Day35)
- 1st Reserve Day (in case of cancellation of one race for any reason) : Thursday Mar 28th 2013 (Day36)
- 2nd Reserve Day (in case of cancellation of a second race for any reason) : Thursday Apr 4th 2013 (Day37)

Registration IS available NOW on the Condor-Club Site ... HERE !

Great to hear that! I would like to join but as LK8000 developer every time I fly Condor I test LK8000. Could you please confirm that you will allow external PDAs (via NMEA stream) on your servers? Disabling it would take away a lot of fun from glider pilots that want to learn their navigation software during Winter season.

In the team, I'm the communication guy, my mates RaiderOne and Philippe are the tech and soaring guys :) So I prefer to let them confirm

Yes for sure, external PDA are allowed as Condor propose it and because, as it is said in the first communication of the SBC2013 Rules, we will only fly "with-PDA" tasks.

We are working on a sort of "specification notebook" related to the type of tasks (sceneries, average duration, average level of difficulty, realism parameters, etc ...) we will fly during this competition and The tasksetter's small Team will use it for their task production throughout the Competition !
And for the moment, we are still on that option to leave aside the "No-PDA" Tasks.

From my point of view, "No-PDA" Tasks are an interesting style of race (I like them too) but it has to be done on specificly detailled sceneries (obviously) and with gliders not too fast, and it is not really compatible with the spirit of the [SBC2013] Competition.
It probably needs its own competition ... and one more thing : apparently the Condor Pilots interested in that type of race are generally not the same ones !?

I would like to propose if it is possible from the organizing team to announce which sceneries will be used so people can download them in advance.

Yes, a list will be published in due time.

There is also a tip to know which sceneries will be used in the next 3 races http://forum.condorsoaring.com/viewtopi ... 26&t=14691

Provence-Oisans2 - V2.0

Post by JJJ » Fri Nov 09, 2012 2:18 pm

Hi,

I've got a small question about this scenery.
I've flew in this scenery for four times right now and four times in a row I do get a blue screen.
Will this one be used for the SBC?

Best regards,
JJJ

Hi Jeroen,

I reduced visible distance from very high to high, this solved the problem for me.

Hi JJJ, Welcome in our Condor community
http://www.condor-club.eu/generic/236/

About blue screen and this scenery, my bet is we should reduce the level of details of all the objects.

Hello guys,
Because of these blue screen problems, Provence-Oisans2 will not be used right now in the SBC2013.
So, the training day will take place on SloveniaHD.
