Based on pure luck, if you could get over the mountains you would've won.. if you get this task IRL, I think you landed already before the mountains..Charon wrote:Sorry, can't agree with you... Certainly, task with quite much randomness, heavy, but at all - interesting.

Re: [SBC2012] Competition days
This was about chance if you took a direct route. TP1 was best approached out to the west through the low valley, TP2 was about luck if you went direct or going the long way round safe but slow. The final leg was pure luck if you happened to be at the ridge when there was no clouds you could hop over. I gave up after around an hour hunting round for a place to cross over, not enough lift from the ridge, the places where you could go over were covered in cloud when i was there. I chose the safe option and landed at tp2.
In real life i would have never attempted that task with such a low cloud base.
With over 50% either crashed or landing out the day would have probably been downgraded in r/l anyway.
I can see that putting a low cloud base would challenge people to find a route round, but with that ridge in the way on the last leg was a very strange choice of task setting as there was no way round it without luck or a huge detour or playing safe and landing out.
4 hours on a task was enough for me so i chose to land at tp2, that was my choice though there was a way round that wouldnt need luck but a lot more time.

There was two ways to cross mountains after tp2 with pass lower than cloudbase. Yes, with some detour, but who says, that all tracks must be direct lines?

Thank you for such a very constructive comment! Eventually you will disgust everyone to organize competitions ...
If you do not like this task is possible, but there are other ways to say.
One day, these events disappear, as the organizers will be tired and unmotivated.
Why are we only 3 or 4 to organize big events? While there are thousands of fans of Condor?
This is probably the last that I organize.
Ps: this is my last post on this topic.

Your competitions are certainly very well organized. Excellent servers, and never any problems.
Some people will always complain about tasks but still come back flying twice a week. I think the key is just to have enough variety. And it shows better who is a good pilot, one who's able to handle a lot of different challenges and tasks.
So keep up the good work, I enjoy all the tasks
Re: [SBC2012] Competition days
As a pilot in a competition i fly the task which the takssetter create.
There is no reason for discussion.
It is the same Task for everybody.
Be open for the challange...
By the way, i loose completly yesterday

Re: [SBC2012] Competition days
Exactly, as i said i tried but decided after a long flight to be safe than crash when tired and make stupid choice. You can never make a task that everyone will be happy with. This one wasnt about going direct (possible if lucky with thermals) but more about choosing or finding a long route.Charon wrote:There was two ways to cross mountains after tp2 with pass lower than cloudbase. One of the advantages of condor is it allows us to try things we would probably not try in real life, but at the same time also if in a difficult or potentially dangerous real life situation allows us to try things without the real life risk of a crash.
Hard task not impossible, for me just couldnt find a way over tp2 and did what I would have done in r/l not risked it and landed out safely.

Thought this task looked a bit familiar

Still didn't help me fly fast enough

Re: [SBC2012] Competition days
Silly task
Missed TP5 and had to return 18km back to turn it. Lost around 16-17minutes. Blah, not my day

Re: [SBC2012] Competition days
Fun task not as hard as it looked at first but great task overall lots of choices to make thx
Re: [SBC2012] Competition days
My computer froze when leaving lift almost at cloudbase. I was with Frank Hiemstra (74) at that time, server H. He can confirm it.
