Troubleshooting

Post by ambrozic » Thu Mar 19, 2009 5:53 pm

Nothing is ever perfect right from the begining. This topic is created to post any issues using CondorSpot regarding website, scoring and results, condor server problems etc.

Any feedback will be highly appreciated.

Regarding issues with website i feel i need to explain few things.

Website offers best user experience using Firefox 3.x. All other more or less mainstream browser engines are supported as well. Website is optimized and tested in Chrome 1.x, Safari, Opera, Internet Explorer 7.x and surprisingly we managed to make it work in Internet Explorer 6.x too. I should mention that this last two browsers should not even be called browsers.

Also, Javascript should be activated in browser if its not already. Website uses javascript quite extensively.

Regarding older browsers like SeaMonkey 1.1.x, Firefox 2.x, Thunderbird 1.5.x. the site wont work. All i can do is advise you to update this browsers with newer versions, if not for browsing experience, for security reasons sure.

Horst, there is a SeaMonkey 2.0 official version soon to be released that will fix many of this problems. Alpha version can already be downloaded and tried.

If anyone else have problems with website usability let us know. At least for supported browsers there should be no open issues.

I think IE7 is working well and finally we have free final version of IE8 (prolly not for all languages yet) and it works very well.

Netscape -> Mozilla -> SeaMonkey, there are over 15 years (super browser for me).
Google Chrome only in 2008. :) (good and fast)

Its very hard to make a nice modern webpage AND support all browsers. I hope its not too inconvenient to you to use some other browser.
