Ping?

Post by Yeff » Fri Mar 07, 2008 1:50 am

Hi all,

I flew my first SB-Cup flight today...I'm still on the backside of the learning curve.

I noticed my "ping" was 300 and most others were 70-90

Is this something I should adjust? or not worry about.

Ping says something about how long it takes to send a package from you to the server and backwards.
When your ping is higher than the rest's, your internet speed available for condor must be lower, or the distance must be much bigger.
For instance when I connect to a server in Holland, and somebody from Australia will connect to the same server, pings will be much different.
Because the distance to travel is much bigger, with the same speed it will take longer.

So either you live far far away for the server, or you could pay more money to your provider, or you could stop downloading during condor.

High ping is not a very big problem as long as it stays below 400.
But the thing is, because it takes longer to send and receive data, you won't see the gliders moving correctly.
And the others won't see you correctly.

Hope I made it a bit more clear to you now,

Good night,
Think positive, flaps negative.
